Worm Bites Apple
Apple spits out worm. No Ahmadinejad circus at Ground Zero:
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the grandstanding leader of a nation accused of supporting terrorists who kill U.S. soldiers, wanted to visit Ground Zero when he comes to New York.
But the Big Apple shrugged off the worm, denying Ahmadinejad permission to lay a wreath at one of America’s most sacred sites when he comes to New York next week to address the United Nations about Iran’s nuclear-weapons program.
WNBC reported late yesterday that Ahmadinejad’s request to enter the fenced-in site was rejected because of ongoing construction. Police spokesman Paul Browne said, “Requests for the Iranian president to visit the immediate area would also be opposed by the NYPD on security grounds.”
Hey. “Big Apple shrugged off the worm.” Good line. I like that. What kind of American newspaper would run something like that? I’m sorry, I mean, what great American newspaper ran that?
The New York Sun reported earlier yesterday that the NYPD and Secret Service were in discussions with the Iranian Mission about a possible visit to the site of the Sept. 11 attacks, and whether it will take place at all.
“There has been some interest expressed in his visiting the area,” Police Commissioner Ray Kelly told the Sun. “It’s something that we are prepared to handle if in fact it does happen.”
The Iranian president, who is accused of taking part in the 1979 hostage crisis, has a long history of shocking stunts. He stunned the world by claiming the Holocaust was a Jewish plot to create Israel, by calling for Israel to be wiped off the map and for hosting a conference that questioned whether the Holocaust took place.
Iran is listed by the United States as a terrorism-supporting nation, and is suspected of involvement in the murder of 241 Marines and sailors in the 1983 bombing of a barracks in Beirut. More recently, Iran has been accused of supplying weapons, money and training to terrorists in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Ahmadinejad is due to address the United Nations General Assembly Sept. 24 as the Security Council mulls new sanctions for Iran’s suspected nuclear weapons program.
Yesterday, presidential candidates condemned the idea of Ahmadinejad at Ground Zero.
“It is an insult to the memories of those who died on 9/11 at the hands of terrorists,” said Karen Hanratty, a spokeswoman for Sen. Fred Thompson.
Mitt Romney said in a statement, “This would deeply offend the sensibilities of Americans . . . Instead of entertaining Ahmadinejad, we should be indicting him.”
Nice of them to put my mug on that on the website. But that was a news article. Not a column. Just the facts.

Aaaahhhhhh. Just when I’m about to throw up my hands in hopelessness, something like this happens to let me know that not every single value I own has gone the way of the steam-engine. Let that be a lesson, children.
Love the headline, Critter. It’s perfect.

I hope it’s settled…..Hot Air is noting that the Secret Service could escort that Iranian bastard nutcake to Ground Zero without the NYPD.
C’mon, George, tell Ahmadinejad to Eff Off.

Oh, go ahead and let bastard go have a peek. But he must go alone. No US provided security. Just him. “Moe” Ahmadinejad makes Hitler look charming and I’d love to see the reception our NY brethren would greet him with.

They should also refuse him entry to the US, and revoke the UN lease and boot them out as well. Let them move to Brussels with the rest of the worlds bungling bureaucrats. Especially as Belgium is in seelf-destruct mode and about to be an ex-country.

Oh no, let him in. We can lock him up, scuff him around and treat him like crap for a year and half just like he did to our embassy folks back in the day.
But that would be “torture” in lib world.

True, VotC, we could send the freak to Gitmo for an extended vacation in the Carribean.

Maybe we’re looking at this all wrong. Maybe we should show him Ground Zero and tell him:
This is what your whole country is going to look like if you don’t knock it off.

OR
Maybe we should consider the scenario that someone like Ahmedinejad really just doesn’t care what the earth will look like once Iran has launched its nuclear missiles, because he believes in some Islamic-inspired fairyland where the Twelfth Imam rises out of a well and declares that Muslims (men) will get their chiffon-and-gauze-clad perfect women, and everything will be hunky-dory paradise for eternity. Leftists should take note of this mindset, not outside the realm of possibility.

You know RebeccaH, the Left’s response to post Cold War nuclear proliferation has been somewhat disappointing to say the least. When all the nukes were held by five or so relatively stable entities, there was no end to their hyperventilating about nuclear winter, Pershings in Europe, Ronald Raygun, our children’s legacy, etc.
Now that virtually any scumbag dictator can obtain one with enough cash, the Left apparently doesn’t give a collective shit. I mean, where are the die-ins and the giant paper mache heads of lil’ Kim and Ahmedinejad and the nude protests and the hundreds of thousands marching and speaking truth to power?

I like the idea of holding him hostage. Permanently.
I’ve wondered about that, too, V of the C. It’s like what happened after Viet Nam, when they lost all interest in that country–hell, in the whole area. They uttered only whispered words about the killing fields, when they spoke at all.

Nice article. However, Iran is more than suspected of bombing the barracks. Iran was found liable for the murder of our Marines in Lebanon. The judgment was for 2.65 billion dollars. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1983_Beirut_barracks_bombing
Perhaps we could request than Ahmadinejad pay up before he gets access to ground zero.

Maybe we could require that he pay up before he is allowed to leave the country.
