I thought they wanted to have an academic debate with Ahmadinejad. You know, like they wanted to have with Hitler. If I knew they were going to mock A’jad and insult A’jad, and wipe the smirk of A’jad’s mug, I might have taken an entirely different view of this Columbia thing.
Nowhere do the words “supplying weapons that are used to murder American soldiers,” “blowing up barracks in Beirut,” ”seeking to destabilize and dominate the entire Middle East,” “illegal seizure and humiliation of foreign nationals,” or anything like those words appear in this article.
After Gateway, Fox has the lengthiest Ahmadinejadapalooza I’ve seen so far, which includes the fact that the National Press Club did ask him about supplying weapons in Iraq thing, which goes to show not all of my people are complete morons.
Anyway, I applaud Bollinger for calling this guy an asshole. Good for him. Maybe he’s set a new academic standard. An incremental step toward making it acceptable to call bullshit bullshit. I think if a university president is willing to get up and do that, then maybe more forums of this sort should be held. This is the role of the grownups at a university, after all, to instruct the youth. I’d just like to know what he and his students would say if the president of the United States took the same stage tomorrow.

Here’s a thought. Some have speculated that Ahmadunderhead’s appearance at Columbia was staged for the benefit of the Iranian public, in order to bolster his legitimacy and influence with them. But in reporting that his reception by Columbia’s president was “unfriendly” they also have to explain in what way, which means details of the “insults” will probably leak out. In that case, well done, Mr. Bollinger. I still think it was a mistake to invite the little sh*tbird.
