Obama flag pin remarks: Dumb
Turning pinnage into a campaign issue and polling candidates: Stupid
Priceless?
If Obama were to be done in by pinnage.* Sadly, even American politics have yet to sink to quite that level of vapidity, and I suspect we’ll be deprived of that spectacle. Though as LA Times notes, Dukakis was severely damaged by appearing ridiculous with a tanker helmet on his pumpkin when he hoped he’d look strong on defense. Kerry took a hit over poorly timed windsurfing, when he thought he’d look virile. Then there was his astonishingly poor decision to crawl around some NASA ductwork in a Woody Allen suit.
Speaking of pinheads, Media Matters goes on pin jihad.
Sun-Times: Obama stuck in no-pin zone.
* While pinnage may be a non-issue, Obama’s remarks re pinnage are another matter, but those are unlikely to have any effect whatsoever at this stage. They represent everything Obama voters love about him, and don’t represent any remarkable revelation. The disparagement of flagwaving could only become a problem if he advances beyond the primary.

I’ll be surprised if Obama goes beyond the primaries. Even the African-American political machine is divided (”not black enough”).

Lord, I hope he doesn’t make it past the primaries. I’ve about had enough of his silliness. I expect him to simply float away at some point, in serious need of some ballast.
