9 Kids Killed
By al-Qaeda. You have to be patient, but eventually in this AP article, you will learn that:
BAGHDAD - A U.S. attack killed 19 insurgents and 15 civilians, including nine children, northwest of the capital Thursday — one of the heaviest civilian death tolls in an American operation in recent months. The military said it was targeting senior leaders of al-Qaida in Iraq.
American forces have applied fierce and determined pressure on militants, especially al-Qaida in Iraq, since the full contingent of additional U.S. troops arrived June 15. But Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki has recently confronted top American commander Gen. David Petraeus about what he sees as overly aggressive U.S. tactics that harm innocent civilians, according to Iraqi officials.
I assume he must be talking about his Shiite militia pals. Everytime the military announces they’ve killed a bunch of them in Sadr City, some Iraqi cops and/or witnesses emerge to claim they are civilians. Someone’s lying. Back to today:
The American account said U.S. surveillance confirmed “activity consistent with the reports and supporting aircraft engaged the time-sensitive target.” The first air attack killed “four terrorists,” said the statement.
So far so good. We’re still looking for the part about the U.S. killing civilians.
The military said it then tracked some of those who escaped the initial attack to a place south of Lake Tharthar. It said ground forces moved on the site and came under fire. Air support was called in.
So al-Qaeda fled. Then al-Qaeda took cover, and began firing on Americans.
“After securing the area, the ground force assessed 15 terrorists, six women and nine children were killed,” the statement said. Two suspected al-Qaida members, a woman and three children were wounded, according to the military account.
I know it’s asking a lot. But given the boilerplate and outrage out of Afghanistan and now Iraq about how aggressive American tactics are killing civilians, could we please have a little boilerplate, and perhaps some outrage, about how cowardly terrorist tactics are killing civilians. Because the reason why women and children are dying is that terrorists are using them for cover. It is the most bizarre thing, from people who supposedly have a strong sense of honor, who are supposed to be willing to sacrifice themselves, and whose religion tells them to keep the women and children and old people out of it.

Melissa thinks al-Qaeda is a figment of the U.S. military’s imagination and has fun with the apology. I don’t get the sense this ever has been or ever will be an issue Melissa has to confront directly.
All Spin Zone has it right. “Evil incarnate.” He just needs to take a minute to figure out who that is. Hint: which side has a policy of killing women and children? Given ASZ’s concern for innocent Iraqis, I’d be curious to know how many synonyms for “evil incarnate” ASZ has to trot out every time al-Qaeda sets off a carbomb in a marketplace.

What is evil the the level of evasion these people have to use to come to the conclusions they do. They have gouged out their own eyes, stopped up their own ears, and atrophied their frontal lobes through lack of use.

They actually believe that they live in the most evil nation on earth, and yet, none of them will look for a better place. They’ll continue to rub shoulders with the people that they hate. Their life must be pure agony, I don’t know how they cope. You’d think that they’d pop and start killing people. That is what hatred leads to.
