Peacetags

Moral superiority commercially available. Mona Charen at The Corner

Bloomingdale’s is advertising jewelry with a political message. A necklace by designer Georgianna Koulianos is fashioned to look like military dog tags. But the tags read “Imagine” “Peace” and “Love.”

So trendy ladies in Chevy Chase and Manhattan are going to wear these accessories to advertise their moral superiority to the guys who wear the real ones? The guys who wear these so that their bodies can be identified if they should be killed or maimed by our enemies?

It’s more military chic, always wildly popular in anti-war circles.

Hey, check out these protestors.

MWL in comments:

Maybe civilians should wear dog tags. Real ones. Then, those of us who get carbonized beyond recognition in the next terrorist attack (enabled by Democratic weakness and negligence) can still be buried under our real names.

MWL’s on to something here.  Bloomtag wearers could go into a big “Tomb of the Imagine Peace Love Citizen,” with a 24-hour honor guard of smelly hippies.

Heh! That means I can dig out my old (and real) dog tags, and wear ‘em. Hey, it’s trendy! If not more than a trifle stupid.

But if it increases my chances of scoring, what the heck!

If I saw some Social X-Ray (Tom Wolfe’s description) wearing sterling silver dogtags with her Vera Wang, I’d probably point and laugh and say something really insulting. Fortunately for all, I don’t travel in those circles.

Doncha wanna know ’bout Georgianna’s own personal imagining, peace & love…?!

Self- righteousness and hypocrisy sufficient to gag a maggot.

    Heh,

Ya know, I’ve been trendy all these years and just never knew it! Sheeesh.

I still wear my dog tags, the ones that Uncle Sam gave me, whenever I travel. They have my name, ssn and blood type on them, so I figure in an emergency, that might come in handy if I couldn’t speak, etc.

As for the wannabe’s….. that’s just pathetic. Why is it that the easiest way to spot anti-war types is to look for all the uniform-wearing folks? They seem to spend more money at army surplus stores than hunters do.

    Idiots.

And goodness knows dog tags saying “peace” and “love” look real good on top of a “Che” t-shirt!

Are all the sane people living at Belview these days? Has Bedlam become the last refuge of the rational mind?

Tis the silly season. The Superior Collective Movie Mind is pulling out all the stops to try to teach us proles the “reality” of their bizarro world, where the enemy, who does some evil things which are nevertheless understandable, wears a white thingy on their collective head, and Americans and other evil, black hat wearing white folks, do evil things because they are just inherently evil, but we could change that if we’d just dialogue. Oddly enough, these movies aren’t doing very well at the box office here in America, but Meryl Streep is making the rounds at the openings in Europe, so there’s hope yet that the costs will be recouped there.

We can expect lots of fashionable dog tags on the red carpet next year as these films vie for the Oscars.

This is really offensive. If I see any of ‘em, I’ll make a scene for both of us, Rebecca. Not that I travel in those circles either, but you never know who you might see in an airport.

Whenever I see military personnel now, in an airport or elsewhere, unless they clearly don’t want to be disturbed I make a point of thanking them for their service to our country and saying I’m grateful to those who fight for my freedom. They generally appreciate it.

Might as well make a point of letting the anti-war fools know how I feel about them. Pointing out the purpose of the real tags sounds like it would be an excellent start to such a conversation.
