Tasing the Swift-Boater
Novak gets them going, with Hill Shills Hint at ‘Bam Slam.
Obama reacts, “Don’t swift-boat me.” That particular bit of political pop vocabulary gets tossed around a lot, but this may be a case of Plaming the messenger. Clinton campaign mouthpiece Howard Wolfson:
“Once again Sen. Obama is echoing Republican talking points, this time from Bob Novak,” he said in an e-mailed statement.
“This is how Republicans work. A Republican-leaning journalist runs a blind item designed to set Democrats against one another. Experienced Democrats see this for what it is.”
Rather. Meanwhile, over at the New York Times, it’s Giuliani time!

Unbelievable. The Democrats are squabbling over the presidential candidacy like dogs over a turkey carcass, and it’s the Republicans’ fault?!?

I blame Bush.

I’ve seen campaigns for class president that were kept to a higher standard than this. I have seen this sort of thing on grade-school playgrounds, however.

O/T The Boston Globe at Boston.com says that sKerry has signed the form 180 releasing his military records and I haven’t heard about him doing it and haven’t heard about the papers being presented. They further state that the records released by the archives are duplicates of already existing documents. They further state that all the swiftboat charges have been disproved.
When did this happen? The last I heard, the cap was never given by a CIA op, Cambodia turned into Vietnam sixty miles from the dropoff point, and he still hasn’t reported to sickbay to validate the splinter medals. Does the Boston Globe only deal in lies or is that just what they want us to believe? Here it is.

Second that. It’s kids fighting for supremacy, not giving a flying burrito that (a) they are Commander in Chief, responsible for defending us, and (b) they are representatives of the body of America.
What do we have today? It’s the Donkey clique vs. the Elephant clique, trying to outdo each other in spin and backstabbing. They’re the ones who say that the class outcasts (who actually do a lot more than suck up to the cool kids and teachers) are always wrong and that the cheerleaders, jocks, and snotty elite kids are always right.
Bollocks. The cool kids are in it to pad their resumes, to smooth over all their insecurities. The outcasts try, but are discouraged with extreme prejudice because the cool kids fear the outcasts will be more successful. Some of the cool kids think they’re “owed” something for past transgressions, which is again bollocks because if their friends didn’t muck it up their chances in the first place - stealing the rival high school’s mascot/team play book/queen bee cheerleader - they would have been taken more seriously.
So all that selfish sabotage, the rumors, the behind-the-scenes manipulation, the efforts to change the votes to some bunco scheme that puts popularity over electability - it’s all to make sure the phrase “s/he with the most toys wins” has nice bitter aftertaste to it.
