Eco-Bash
My old pal Peter Howe takes an eco-swipe at Bush 43 with faint praise for Bush 41’s new wind turbine at Kennebunkport. Monied political gentry more deserving of knocks on that score might be Ted Kennedy and Al Gore, though. Boston Globe:
His son may be known as a big friend to Big Oil, but George Herbert Walker Bush is showing a green streak these days.
Bush père hasn’t gone completely save-the-Earth, of course. When the time comes to “prudently recreate,” as the former president once famously put it, his choice of watercraft remains a 28-foot Cigarette speedboat powered by two gas-chugging 185-horsepower engines.
With steady Maine coast breezes, the Southwest Windpower Skystream 3.7 turbine should produce around 400 kilowatt-hours a month of electricity. That’s 80 percent of a typical home’s power demand. Not that the 26-room Bush place is a typical home.
Or that the Kennedy compound, where Ted has fought efforts to ruin the view of Nantucket Sound out his picture window, is your typical compound. Nor the Gore manse your typical low carbon-footprint grass shack. Bush 43’s house, however … “a model of environmental rectitude.”
It may be a conservative thing. After all, conservatism is to conservation as liberalism is to _____________.*
(h/t reader Lynne H., whose diligence spared me having to comb today’s Globe for this.)
*Libertinism! You got it!

I have to commend the Bushes for this, just from a strictly economical standpoint.

Bang!
Bush 43’s house vs. Gore 000000’s energy-eater. No contest.

C’mom JC, you only “care” about the environment if you say you do (and you have a “D” behind your name.)
If you have an “R” behind your name, you are a smoke stack industry owing, toxic polluting, labor oppressing, greedy bastard of a climate wrecker no matter what you do.

Personally, I wish Bush 41 (and, heck, Bush 43 as well) would install a nuclear reactor on his property. That would REALLY reduce their carbon footprint!!!!
In fact, Bush 41 could sell electricity to the Kennedy Clan. A real win-win scenario!

Ted Kennedy and Al Gore
The story of how Uncle Ted and his nephew Bobby’s kid “the environmental lawyer” fought those nasty wind turbines obstructing his views (way, way offshore) is ironic almost to the point of hysteria.
I “think” the point is for all that nasty “energy producing” stuff to be way far away from the serene views of Martha’s Vineyard. Like, for instance south Texas.
Doubly ironic, the Goracle’s energy bills for the Tennessee manse, something like the equivalent to half the town’s total use (ok, so I may exaggerate here, I’ve forgotten the details)
(to his credit, he did say he and Tipper were going to change out the light bulbs !)
Not to mention his continued travel by private jet to promote The Religion, manmade Global Warmism.
The worst story of the week, however, is the monstrously huge advance that The Swimmer (Teddy) received for penning his “memoirs”. Something like the biggest advance ever.

Ah yes, George-boy’s ties to evil capitalism. Course, Gore is rich, and getting richer by the force of government fiat with his carbon-credit scams and massive investments in “green-tech,” but that doesn’t count. His heart is in the right place and, as we all know, the facts do not matter if your heart is in the right (meaning left) place.
