Foe Defined

Chavez enemies are “mental retards.”

CARACAS, Venezuela, Nov. 30 — On the eve of a referendum that President Hugo Chavez has cast as a plebiscite on his rule, the populist leader is escalating his verbal assaults on foes real and imagined, picking a fight with neighboring Colombia one day and assailing Catholic Church leaders as “mental retards” the next.

Chavez’s behavior appears increasingly unpredictable, but some political analysts say the bluster may be a tactic designed to generate support for the constitutional changes that Venezuelans will vote on in Sunday’s referendum. Although a few weeks ago the proposals had been expected to receive easy approval, polls released last week showed that the opposition could ultimately prevail in a tight contest.

“He’s decided that his best tactic to recover the control of his movement is to instill fear in his people that there’s a world conspiracy against Venezuela,” said Demetrio Boersner, a political analyst and former diplomat. “It’s a tactic that uses histrionics as a weapon to unite the people so they vote for him on Sunday.”

Retards* of the world, unite!

Fellow retard Captain Ed notes that Hugo has also branded his opposition a CIA operation and threatened to cut off oil exports to the United States.

* Badge of honor.  No cruel jokes about my misspelling of “Chavez” in the first few hours of this post, please.

The vote is Sunday and the key tenet is

a constitutional overhaul that includes permitting (Oogoe) to run again in 2012 and then to stay in power as long as he keeps winning elections

    And

The changes would also allow Chavez to control currency reserves, censor the media in an emergency and pick party loyalists over regional elected officials.

Cutting to the chase, the point of the vote is to allow Oogoe to become a mirror image of his buddy, Fidel, in terms of absolute power and suppression of anyone and anything opposing him.

If the vote is close, look for manipulation of the results in Oogoe’s favor.

Maybe the inestimable (gag) Jimmah Cartah could whip down there to “certify ” Oogoe’s “victory”.

I wouldn’t count on it. From what I hear internatonal observors have not been invited to monitor this election. Instead of having observors from the OAS, and the EU, as was the case in past elections, this election will be observed by groups like the National Lawyers Guild (the NLG is a communist front group…and I think we all know how communists run elections).

I also hear that Chavez’ economic “reforms” are causing food shortages all over Venezuela, and that the government is starting to accuse the opposition of “hoarding”. I’ve seen that one before…right before dictatorships seize control of everything and start shooting people who complain about it.

It ain’t looking too good for Venezuelans right about now.

Things aren’t always what they seem, but it sure looks like Hugo is moving to establish a dictatorship in Venezuela.

Chavez will totally trash the joint within 5 years and we’ll be left picking up the tab for a huge economic bailout package after a savage crowd rips him limb from limb and throws this crew out on its butt.

If hugo chavez cuts off the oil supply to the US, he’ll simply cut off his own cocaine-dusted nose to spite his pudgy, paranoid face. Sure, he’ll give it to Russia and China, but those low-income families in the urban centers might finally realize what a coke-head criminal hugo chavez really is and determine that for all the cheap oil he’s giving them, he’s no better than the neighborhood gangbanger, pimp, or the crack whore. And it won’t just be hugo running the show - the Marxist terrorist group FARC will likely have a hand in many of his decisions.

If hugo’s giving out 100,000 barrels a day, all we have to do is either hit the Strategic Reserve, send out a few fully-loaded warships to block the Caracas harbor, or both.

You might revisit the USSR for a history lesson?

They had prisons masked as hospitals. Don’t agree - you must be crazy. Textbook stuff here. The Dude read the books and probably has coaches?

  6. Michael Lonie Says:

So, does anybody suppose that Venezuelans have finally twigged that electing as President a clownish twit who had already tried to overthrow the government in a military coup was a really stupid idea? Do the Venezuelans really want to sell their liberty for a mess of moldy, government issued potatoes? Are they so stupid and ignorant that they don’t realize what a miserable failure the Socialism Chavez lauds has been everywhere it has been tried?

Chavez will win the referendum, since his goons will control the counting. That’s managed democracy for you. Look for a massive shift of votes toward El Jefe’s support at the last minutes of voting.

  7. Dave Surls Says:

Looks like Chavez’ party has been defeated in a close election, and they’re willing to accept it. If the Chavezitas were trying to rig the election (a la Castro) they sure have a funny way of going about it.

He’s showing a lot more class than Al Gore and company ever did (no whining, no bogus clams of rigged elections…not so far anyway)..

Doesn’t make him our friend, but at least he’s an enemy you can respect somewhat.

  8. Michael Lonie Says:

Crimeny, I never thought Hugo would be so incompetent as to not be able to steal the election. Wasn’t he listening when his Commie pals told him how to make sure of the vote counting? Just goes to show that overconfidence can trip up the most determined tyrant wannabe.
