Who Wants To Be An Iranian Nuclear Power?
Who loves the NIE even more than the loyal opposition? Is that your final answer?
Here, by the way, is the loyal opposition. Nuclear Iran, still not a concern:
Sy Hersh, via Think Progress, parses what Bush knew when.
TPM’s Horse Mouth flogs Bush lackey press.
Matthew Yglesias at Atlantic Monthy: Red Handed.
That last one gets my vote. I doubt Ahmadinejad dancing naked with a nuclear football would merit that headline.

What a devastating blow to the Bush administration! If these dubious folks are to be believed, when we invaded Iraq, Iran joined Libya in giving up its nuclear weapons program. This inept administration inadvertently disarmed two-thirds of the axis of evil (plus Libya) and, with North Korea’s apparent retreat, has no nuclear proliferators left to fight! What malfeasance! What manifest incompetence! Not only have they no one left to de-proliferate, Hillary, Murtha and Reid have no potential nuclear power left to appease, and no actual nuclear power to whom to surrender! Thank God for Putin!

If the assessment is true–and that’s a big IF–does this mean that Ahmadinnerjacket has been lying all this time?

“The U.S. and its allies should accept nuclear rights of the Iranian nation…”
No, actually we should attack and destroy the Mad Mullahs because they’ve attacked the United States, kidnapping and murdering our citizens, both directly and via terrorist proxies.
What kind of weaponry the Iranians have is irrelevant.
“Our war on terror begins with al-Qaida, but it does not end there. It will not end until every terrorist group of global reach has been found, stopped, and defeated.”–George Bush
U.S. Dept. of State, 2006:
“Iran remained the most active state sponsor of terrorism. Its Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS) were directly involved in the planning and support of terrorist acts and continued to exhort a variety of groups, especially Palestinian groups with leadership cadres in Syria and Lebanese Hizballah, to use terrorism in pursuit of their goals. In addition, the IRGC was increasingly involved in supplying lethal assistance to Iraqi militant groups, which destabilizes Iraq.”
“Iran continues to be unwilling to bring to justice senior al-Qaida members it detained in 2003. Iran has refused to identify publicly these senior members in its custody on “security grounds.” Iran has also resisted numerous calls to transfer custody of its al-Qaida detainees to their countries of origin or to third countries for interrogation and/or trial.”
“Iran maintained a high-profile role in encouraging anti-Israeli terrorist activity — rhetorically, operationally, and financially. Supreme Leader Khamenei and President Ahmadi-Nejad praised Palestinian terrorist operations, and Iran provided Lebanese Hizballah and Palestinian terrorist groups — notably HAMAS, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, the al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine-General Command — with extensive funding, training, and weapons.”
Then, let’s get the Mad Mullahs…like we should have done years ago.

Frankly, I trust the Israelis’ assessment of the situation more than the NIE, and they don’t for a moment believe that the Iranians have stopped their nuclear program. The Israelis know their survival is at stake. The NIE is just playing politics.
