Keep Them There Now!
Anti-war lawyer accused of keying Iraq-bound vet’s car, legally manuevering to get out of a felony vandalism charge … by delaying til the vet’s deployed! Sounds like an anti-war lawyer who better hope they don’t rush the troops home. Blackfive.

From the reaction (and entirely reasonable suggestions) at Blackfive, Jay R. Grodner will rue his rash and hateful act for a long time, even if he gets out of the charges. Everyone urged no physical retaliation, but I’m betting Mr. Grodner will be looking over his shoulder anyway. Good. I hope he’s reduced to checking under his bed every night for the rest of his life.

Yeah, if you are a weenie left wing lawyer, you can only key cars of people who you know are not inclined by training and upbringing (if not by disposition) to kick your pathetic ass.

And didn’t Bill Clinton try the reverse of this? Was it true or merely urban legend that Clinton tried to invoke the Soldiers and Sailors Relief Act on his own behalf (as Commander in Chief!) to at least delay some of his legal problems?

VotC, it’s not necessarily true that “not inclined by training and upbringing (if not by disposition) to kick your pathetic ass.”
When I was in the Corps there were a bunch of Juggies who would drool at the chance to discuss what he had done to their Sgt. This covered almost everyones sgt., regardless of whether they even liked their sgt. It was covered under the thrill of my victory and the agony of his defeat.

Yeah Mike, I’m aware of that aspect. I can’t speak for Marines, I just know from sailors, and while they wouldn’t generally shy from applying barracks or fo’csle justice to someone who was willfully assholish or dangerous, it was seldom directed outside the lifelines, other than as fantasy. I am certain the urge is there though. Hell, the guy’s not even my Sgt, I’m not even a Marine, and I would love to see the pathetic asshole get his comuppence. My point is in our civil society, the people who hate our society have seemingly more protections than the people who volunteer to possibly die for it, and so they will only attack the people who they know by and large won’t fight back. But Mr Lefty Lawyer somehow gets his nose bloodied and you will have suddenly never met a bigger UCMJ enthusiast.

It will be very interesting to see where this goes. Can this interweb thingy have the power to bring some justice in this … this … well, I’m stuck for a word. The act itself is so childish that my first thought is that this person richly deserved the playground justice of a good thrashing. Then we get into the grinding machinery of the so-called justice system, and the childishness is raised to a serious level. If an individual, regardless of his status, cannot get any justice on something like this, why do we pay for the system. Is it just for murderers and rapists? Is there no mechanism that protects us from people like this Grodner person?
It is interesting that the other lawyers in this story have such a view of their own, personal ethics, that they do not stand up and denounce this guy and make sure that he sees justice.
This story ends up as a very unattractive example of what our justice system has become. It is about more than $2400 in damages. The system has become as inaccessible to individual citizens as our other institutions have.

Grodner’s web site is down, so the only Google hits appear to be ones telling the story. Heh.
Wonder where the main stream media is on this, them being defenders of the poor and weak against the rich and powerful and all?
And Grodner is playing a race card cuz he’s Jewish???? B’but I thought according to the Left we are in complete thrall to Zionists and Israel and Jewish business interests in this country? Grodner better get a policy memo update from the DNC before he plays that one out. He is a classic Lefty though: despite making an appalling choice in this matter, HE’s the victim!

VotC, I wasn’t disagreeing. I was just posting a lame excuse for a joke while acknowledging the correctness of your stance. Sometimes I come at the subject from a left handed perspective.

If you read through the comments at Blackfive on the thread linked above, you can find links to evidence demonstrating this particular pos to be a serial offender in the area of dishonorable professional conduct.
The judge in this case should maybe be looked at as a willful enabler. He should have the pos lawyer’s record in front of him. If he doesn’t he hasn’t done his homework on the persons involved in this case.
The bar association in that area should maybe be looked at as a worthless dysfunctional entity in need of a total overhaul for allowing someone so prone to lack of integrity and consistently dishonorable to remain as a lawyer within their area of responsibility.

There’s an update as of 2000CST at Blackfive.
Also, you might note: “And, BTW, a sincere thanks to all the Chicago Police Officers for their advice and offers.”
