“No woman is illegal,” exclaims Hillary, upon being notified she’s trying to get an illegal alien’s vote. Game recovery bid, but it does raise questions about her basic knowledge of law, gender equality, pretty much about her common sense. Las Vegas Review Journal:

OK, I don’t want to appear meanspirited or anything, but are these our children/future or Mexico’s? Just wondering, because of Mr. Santana’s interest in immigration, not elaborated on here, the fact he’s talking about getting other people to vote for her but isn’t identified as a voter himself, and other aspects of this article that suggest the Clinton campaign was more interested in finding people in Vegas with sob stories than it was in finding people who are actually part of the American electorate. Bear with me.
There was nobody who didn’t know who the Democratic presidential candidate and former first lady was, even if they didn’t speak English or weren’t old enough to vote. They flocked to her for camera-phone pictures, and she posed in tableaux of adorable multicultural children.
I’m as touched as you are by that tableaux of adorable multiculturalism, but again, especially given the non-English-speakitude, how many of the parties in question will ever, lacking an amnesty bill, be old enough to vote in the United States? I know, it sounds meanspirited, Englist, and disturbingly unicultural, but again, please bear with me.
And I hate to dwell, but “adorably multicultural?” Sounds a tad condescending. That isn’t some sort of PC code for “brown” or “Hispanic” or something, is it? Because that would be racist. I know as a white male I’m not entitled to an opinion on this, but my kids are studying Spanish and French, and live in an Anglo-Celtic-Australo-American household. They’re adorable, but would anyone call them adorably multicultural? I doubt it. Look, I’m just trying to understand. Moving on.
Clinton and her busload of traveling press moved from there to the popular local Mexican restaurant Lindo Michoacan, where a “roundtable” that was actually square passed a microphone around to tell her people’s concerns about the mortgage crisis and foreclosures. She took notes and munched on tortilla chips.
In broken English, one woman told Clinton how she wasn’t making money as a broker anymore.
“I have no income at all,” she said. “So how will I survive?”
That’s interesting. I would have thought becoming a real estate broker in this country required a pretty good command of English. I’d love to know how her clients are fairing, how many of them she steered into sub-prime mortgages, what the foreclosure rate is. Her being out of business could be a tragedy. Could be a blessing. More questions that just aren’t being answered by the adorably multicultual tableaux-enchanted LVRJ scribbler, who applies more critical discernment to the shape of the table than anything else in this article.
Choking up with emotion, the woman said, “In my neighborhood, there are brand-new homes, but the value is nothing. I’m glad you are here so I can tell you, because you’re going to be the president, I know.”
A man shouted through an opening in the wall that his wife was illegal.
Hang on. You can be illegal and be any kind of broker in this country? There ought to be a law! Meanwhile Hillary, upon being informed that she’s interviewing a non-voter who is in this country illegally, rolls with the punch. Toughs it out, doesn’t politely excuse herself, get on the cell to Immigration, or even start yelling at her idiot handlers.
“No woman is illegal,” Clinton said, to cheers.
Fast work, Hill. Even the LVRJ didn’t think “No woman is illegal” and the Clinton campaign’s pandering to document-deficient non-voters was all that remarkable. They buried it. Turns out there are things you can proclaim loudly and proudly even though they defy logic and reality, and represent a ridiculous parody of feminism.
Let’s try that with some other genders and issues: “No man is a philanderer!”
Sure, that one works, too, if you want it to.
Summing it up at the end, Clinton said, “We’ve only talked to a few people, but each of them talk about some part of the problem we are confronting. This is a problem that is only going to get worse if we don’t address it.”
OK, here we go. She’s ready to address it. But it depends on what your definition of “it” is. Her wretchedly ill-prepared advance staff, the unbelieveable notion of illegal aliens acting as real estate brokers, or her own gender-distorted misunderstanding of basic immigration law?
Clinton said unscrupulous lending leads to bad mortgages, which lead to foreclosures, which lead to people with nowhere to go and vacant neighborhoods that can go rapidly downhill.
“We treat these problems as if one is guacamole and one is chips, when … they both go together,” she said.
OK, none of the above. But what an adorably multicultural, if condescendingly racist analogy!
The article devolves into lay-of-the-land election coverage, with this remark from Hill:
“I’m not asking people to take me on a leap of faith,” she said. “I’m asking them to look at what I bring to this race, and what I will do as president.”
Uh … legalize women?

Uh… excuse me, but a woman who comes to the United States without a visa or any kind of proper documentation is illegal. Let me repeat that: she is in the country illegally. What kind of feminism makes a special case for a woman because she is brown or black? Wasn’t feminism all about equality for women (which, in my understanding, meant equal consideration and equal responsibility), and when did it start to make exceptions for skin color and/or political adherence?

What pandering? Every one of those illegal aliens is a Democratic voter. That’s Hillary getting in touch with her base.
As for the subprime mortgage crisis, this is the result of the “Redlining” crisis of a few years ago. Remember that? Banks were discovered not making loans to people who would not be able to pay them back. Consequently the banks were hauled into court and before Committees of indignant Congresscritters and forced to loosen up the rules for selected minorities, who are now finding that they can’t repay their loans. Government doing something about this is government mucking up the problem government created in the first place. Get government out of the whole business.

As for the subprime mortgage crisis: I know this and you know this. I’m sure there are others who know this. I don’t know about your or these others, but I’m not so much as an economic dilettante and I’ve just been waiting for the fall that was perfectly predictable. And don’t you just love the same government now chomping at the bit to write even more “corrective” legislation that will rein in the greedy bastard bankers and other lenders?

It’s habitual with governments Salty, to make a mess by ignorant blundering then use the excuse that the results have to be cleaned up to intrude even more. Inevitably they make an even bigger mess, until the government’s control encompasses the entire economy. Sadly few people recognize what a scam this is, and of those few some are just crackpots.
