Multi-Million $$$ Bush Bash

Apparently the Iraq war, Gitmo, trampling of constitutional rights, failure to catch bin Laden, Katrina, bipartisanly despised immigration bill, Plamegate … heck, I can’t remember all of it, but seven years of Bush bumbling and Bush lies and Bush looking like a chimp just didn’t do it. Lefty group will have to spend $8.5 million this year to squelch any possibility of a Bush legacy.

They don’t want him to experience a sudden popularity uptick like Reagan. Bush = Reagan? He’ll be glad to hear that. You’d think progressives might be able to find something more useful to do with $8.5 million than call George Bush names and try to police the thoughts of millions of Americans. You know, eliminate poverty, end war, stop racism, free Tibet, save the whales, no nukes, go green, etc. On the other hand, re-education of the masses, particularly kulaks and other class criminals who might be swayed by Bush legacy lies, is the kind of thing that has been a major progressive agenda item going way back.

The whole thing has a bit of King Canute quality to it. But we’re talking about people who, if I’m not grievously wrong about this particular crowd, think they can change Earth’s weather. It’s nice of them to worry that Bush will have a decent legacy. Maybe they’re afraid someone will notice what the Democratic leadership has accomplished in this time. Maybe they’re afraid someone will notice we’re winning in Iraq, America hasn’t been attacked again, Katrina had more to do with inept Democratic leadership in Louisiana than it did with inept Republican leadership in Washington (and was a pretty good indicator of how effective any government can be at stopping catastrophic weather), we’ve had decent job growth and it isn’t likely to be much of a recession. Oh yeah, Iran and Syria are increasingly isolated, Libya is playing nice, Arab nations like Israel better than they like Hamas, and moderate leadership is emerging among the Palestinians, who are talking to the Israelis, thanks to Bush and his efforts to bring dozens of nations together on that issue.

I’m sure I missed a few, but it’s been a long 7 years.* Not bad for someone who showed every sign of being a mediocre president and was hit with a couple of the most severe crises since Pearl Harbor.

Captains Quarters brings another Bush-legacy basher. Peggy Noonan’s getting paid to do it.

* Add yours in comments. Lefties are welcome to bash Bush to their hearts’ content, but seeing as you have so much disposable $$$ to toss around in the effort, I’ll expect some Paypal hits.

Hmmmmmm……$8.5 million? Why not just bribe a bunch of RWDBs? After all, we’re just greedy and corrupt capitalists. Grease our palms with some green, and we’ll dance and sing!

Let’s see…….at $100 a pop, they could get 85,000 wingnuts to shout “BUSH LIED, PEOPLE DIED!” for a few minutes.

Except that I would hold out for $500, or even $1000. I may be easy, but I ain’t cheap!!!!

No matter who wins in November, they are going to wake up on 21-Jan-2009 and feild like their miserable lives have been deprived of all meaning.

‘Liberal advocacy groups spending $8.5 million to bash Bush’ is caused by global warming.

[…] Via Jules Crittenden comes the news that a far-left organization, “plans to spend $8.5 million in a drive to ensure that President Bush’s public approval doesn’t improve as his days in the White House come to an end.” As Jules points out, you would have thought that Bush’s ‘horrible’ record would’ve ensured this, seemingly not so. It’s peanuts compared to what George Soros plans to spend on anti-America propaganda in 2008.

“You’d think progressives might be able to find something more useful to do with $8.5 million than call George Bush names…”

Not really. Can’t think of anything progressives have done that’s the least bit useful.
