Gutter Press Gets Action

Spanish talk jocks put ghoulish driver’s Herald wire:

MADRID, Spain – A driver who killed a 17-year-old cyclist – then sued the boy’s parents over the damage to his Audi – has been shamed into dropping the lawsuit by intense media coverage.

Tomas Delgado hit Enaitz Iriondo in August 2004, killing him instantly. In 2006, Delgado – whose insurance company paid Iriondo’s parents $48,000 – sued seeking $30,000 for his wrecked Audi A8 and car rental costs.

“It’s the only way I have to claim my money back,” Delgado said earlier this week. But the suit became a hot topic on Spanish radio and TV chat shows and yesterday, Delgado’s lawyer announced his client decided to ditch the case.
