Hillary’s French Campaign
Gets a manager. Captains Quarters on Ann Coulter’s latest bomb thrown calls it McCain Derangement Syndrome, asks if she’s jumped the shark. I’d call it her “moving to France” moment. She’ll join the Hill campaign if McCain wins the GOP nomination. Transcript excerpts via RCP:
COULTER: Looking at substance rather than whether it’s an R or D after his name manifestly, if he is our candidate, then Hillary is going to be our girl, Sean, because she is more conservative than he is. I think she would be stronger on the war on terrorism. I absolutely believe that.
HANNITY: That is the one area I disagree with you on.
COLMES: Can I just say one thing?
COULTER: Yes, we are going to sign up together. Let me explain that point on terrorism.
HANNITY: You would vote for Hillary over –
COULTER: Yes, I will campaign for her if it’s McCain.
HANNITY: Is Hillary watching tonight? You just got an endorsement from Ann Coulter.
COLMES: I just heard the word no.
COULTER: I was touched when she cried.

Scary-looking freakshow seeks attention, gets it. Maybe its scary-looking you-go-girl solidarity.
Vid here. She’s joking about the crying part but claims in apparent seriousness that because of McCain’s anti-”torture” stance, Hill will be tougher in the war on terrorism, go after real terrorism threats, not pull troops. Actually claims that at least the Clintons are honest about their lying. That’s a bit much, while the “more conservative” claim is just ridiculous, despite McCain’s forays across party lines. It’s quite possible that whoever is elected, even Obama, will quickly get cold feet on Iraq abandonment, pandering to dictators, etc., when actual responsibility sets in. Expecting Hill to do so goes beyond what Bill would call “a roll of the dice,” however. Last word on Fox:
COLMES (raising hand): My work is done. My work is done.
Tigerhawk suggests MDS has peaked. Either that, or the tide just went out.
Meanwhile, John Hood at NRO’s The Corner takes a somewhat more rational look at McCain and observes that he reaps what he sows.
WSJ, “McCain Makes Headway with Conservatives,” looks at the lay of the land. Geezerdom polls better than Mormonism.
LTC Rick Francona at MSNBC says we need a president who’s worn the uniform. I dunno, recent history and politics would suggest its not the uniform on the man but the man in the uniform.

I’ve never been a fan of Coulter’s; she’s fixated on some subjects to the point of obsession. Frankly, I think she’d do better on shock radio, maybe co-hosting with Howard Stern. Still, if she wants to support Hillary!!!!, more power to her. Ann can only hurt Hillary!!!! in most ways. But Ann should find a new gig, ‘cuz “conservative writer” ain’t gonna cut it. Maybe she become a spokeswoman for the French government’s tourism bureau?
As for McCain…….personally, I think he’s the worst possible candidate in the Republican line up. But he’s better than any of the Democratic candidates. It’s mostly a matter of voting for the lesser of two evils…..and how much rotgut whiskey one consumes before voting. And after.

Of course she doesn’t mean it. She does, however, want Romney to win the nomination and she’s pulling out the stops at the moment in an effort to make that happen. This is just a part of that.

First, Ann should get a new wardrobe. She is reaching the age where she can be described as mutton dressed as lamb.
Second it certainly sounds like McCain Derangement Syndrome. Ann can be amusing because she gives the liberals a taste of their own medicine, which invariably causes them to whine and cry. They love to dish it out but cannot take it in return. Still she has a tendency to jump the shark frequently. I thought John Hood’s piece was very good. My own view is that I prefer Romney, but I can live with a President McCain. Conservatives will have to watch him like hawks to prevent nonsense, but we’ve unexpectedly had to do that with Dubya too.
I see her point to some extent though, just not with McCain. I myself swore to a friend that, if the Packs nominated Huckabee I would vote for Hillary. This election is so distasteful that I’m loing past it to 2012, and anticipating supporting a Bobby Jindal for President campaign.

[...] Our Dark Lord Rove has spoken. Whole thing here. We have nothing to fear bit fear itself! Sorry, bad choice of words. Darkness will prevail over the land, in a manner that is intense and exciting! You orcs may return to snarling over bits of McCain and Romney, whose respective shortcomings, curiously, ODLR deigns not to comment upon. May want to consider chewing on something else. [...]
