Where else? Patriot-Ledger of Massachusetts:
FRAMINGHAM – Five policemen rushed to a forum held by U.S. Rep. Ed Markey in the Framingham Town Hall Sunday after the politically charged crowd got rowdy, discussing impeachment and whether President Bush helped orchestrate the Sept. 11 attacks.
No arrests were made, but tempers boiled and ‘‘Shut ups!’’ were shouted among the standing-room crowd.
The audience nearly got hostile when David Pierce of Arlington suggested that the attacks were ‘‘perpetrated’’ by government.’’
He called for an impartial independent criminal investigation as audience members cheered.
Markey replied that it’s ‘‘incontrovertibly true’’ that the terrorist-piloted planes caused the attacks. ‘‘I do not believe President Bush participated in any conspiracy to bring down those towers,’’ he said.
Some in the audience loudly shot back, ‘‘That’s a lie’’ and ‘‘Not true.’’
A few argued with each other, shouting back and forth, ‘‘Shut up!’’
Officials called police as Phil Troudman of Malden put forth a conspiracy theory of controlled demolition by the Bush administration.
‘‘I’m willing to go and take another look at it,’’ Markey conceded.
Welcome to Massachusetts, where presumeably the party affiliation of the congressman in question doesn’t need to be stated. Particularly given the tendency toward capitulation.
So, intimidated and pandering to wackjobs, or ready to call for a hearing into the secret history of 9/11 and the war crimes of Chimpy McBushitler?
G’day, catmeat Blairites. Always good to see you. Quick, what’s more American than bikini girls with machine guns? Not that traditional American pinups are anything to sneeze at. No, that’s not Smokey Robinson singing Tears of the Crowned. Damn murdering racist Yanks. Far be it from me to have fun at the expense of an ailing shut-in, but look who’s on life support. But spare a moment to face the dead.

Same as in Berkely, Rebeccah.

I don’t think it’s caused by water, Rebecca. More like too much cheap gin.

What a coward! No integrity. Weak as water.

The Patriot Ledger huh?…What a joke.
Of the original 13 “colonies”, seems like Georgia has become the shining star. The rest are lost…”Croatan” lost, actually
Markey…It’s a wonder you didn’t get stoned to death, for your ‘‘incontrovertibly true’’. It seems that the asshat citizenry you spoke with are easily adapatible to Islama-stoning. Then again Markey, you started it. Something about “you reap what you sow”
Silly bastards, I mean why stone, when they can burn or hang? How far away from Salem are you, anyway. They do have that kind of thing down pat(s).
Jules, do move ASAP, while you still have your sanity intact.

Most of these “troofers” are white people from the suburbs, who are in such deep denial that Muslim terrorists were the perpetrators that the only thing that comforts them is to scapegoat the government. The “troofers” are acting the same way as the crowd did when Jesus was being persecuted by Pontius Pilate; i.e. “we want Barrabas” = “9-11 was an inside job.”
The only way to stop madness such as this is to simply walk away and ignore it, as these “troofers” are looking for attention, as well as an audience. The shell shock still hasn’t worn off of them in the past seven years, and this is the only way they can allay their horror. To his credit, Bill Clinton handles these “troofers” better than Markey (he even tells hecklers that Osama bin Laden blessed it and 19 Saudis carried it out), but it only takes one unhinged conspiracy nut to snap.

What an odd equation!
Unless you are implying even deeper consipracies by referencing this parable in the context of anti-semitism, which is a more common interpretation of the various Gospel accounts than you might think, I’ll take it as read that Barabbas (only one “r”, my friend; it translates directly as “Son of the Father”) was the favourite of the crowd because he was a very well-known proponent of violent insurrection against Rome — and that the sword held greater appeal to the assembled mob than inchoate ideas of brotherly love and abstemious cheek-turning from a relative unknown from the “sticks”.
I still don’t get the connection: “give us Bar-Abbas”=”US Gov’t executed 9-11″. Oh, and what function (you’ll pardon the pun) does Pilate play?
Enlighten me, please.
Bear with me one more moment: Jesus was not being persecuted by Pilate. He was being punished. All those guilty of crimes whose final sentence was crucifixion were flogged and forced to carry their cross. He may well have been persecuted by the people of Jerusalem who mocked him as “King” — thus the thorny crown.
Frankly, while I would rather not call someone else’s gospel into question, there is no way at anytime, anywhere in the Roman Empire anyone convicted of treason would be freed at the whim of the crowd.
