Anointed?

Remember how people kept saying just nothing’s inevitable, just wait till Super Tuesday? Yeah, well, the inevitable just got more inevitable, but it turns out its still an election. ROUNDUP UPDATED:
The numbers lean heavily that way. Romney says he isn’t done yet, and so does Huckabee.
Steyn figures it means President Obama or President Clinton. I wouldn’t be so sure.
Dilulio, Weekly Std: GOP needs McCain Dems to win.
Dickerson, Slate: Can McCain hold it together?
Romney. He’s not just for Reaganite ideological purists anymore (or before).
Mary Katherine Ham: the Huckabee Dilemma.
Cruelest cut: Some guy on CNN at 2:30 in the morning saying that Mitt’s task today is to explain why he shouldn’t get out of Huckabee’s way.
Tapscott: Now we’ll see if McCain really wants conservatives.
Romney advisor via CNN, re assessment: “It is tough to saddle up this a.m.”
Jed Babbin at Human Events on McCain’s opportunity at CPAC tomorrow, his plans for a Reagan intro vid, what he shouldn’t do and what he should do … time not to be all things to all people in the house that Reagan built.
Murchison at RCP: You got someone better?
Samuelson at RCP: Why it’s not the economy, stupid. He doesn’t go the next step on what it is, the one thing presidents almost entirely and singlehanded can influence. Foreign policy … and when necessary, its practice by other than diplomatic means. War, you morons.
Surber: Does Dem discord help or hurt the GOP? Don points out some nuance in what seems like an obvious question.
Tigerhawk: Will immigration be the fulcrum?
Moderate Voice: Take heart, $$$ & political muscle aren’t all they’re cracked up to be.
Meanwhile, Captain Ed on Reagan’s birthday, with Reagan’s greatest moment. There’s vid.

I won’t be heartbroken like a lot of people if McCain gets the nomination. I doubt he can beat Obama, though. Old & grumpy does not play well against young & enthusiastic, even if Obama is just an empty suit whose “new” ideas are purely baby boomer era, post-JFK, pacifist liberal. Unfortunately, many voters will hear his empty platitudes and read their own hopes and dreams into them.

It’s anybody’s guess what’s going to happen. I plan to vote for McCain, as I feel he’ll be the Republican nominee. I mean, come on. The other choice is a socialist identity politician who has absolutely no clue as to the needs and desires of the majority of Americans. And the fact that they sometimes can be persuaded by sweet talk is no indication.
This is the election where I clutch my rabbit’s foot, close my eyes, seek out my witch friends, and hope for the best.
