Foot Marksmanship

A competition everyone can enter. As strong at the Democrats appear to be in this year’s Moron Olympiad, they could face a serious GOP challenge in the pedathalon:
Here’s your own moronic Cosell at Pajamas, handicapping the the self-handicappers.

This guy … bigger-worded, been around a couple more blocks than me … says the same thing at WSJ. Name dropper!

As President Reagan once told me, “Going over the cliff, flags flying, is still going over the cliff.”

Patrick Buchanan, at cliff’s edge at RCP, can’t seem to decide whether to jump or not. Hang on, that might be Buchanan at the bottom of the cliff, shouting up some advice.

WSJ editorial: Dobson’s Choice is a bullseye … right through the foot!

Former Reaganista Larry Kudlow at RCP makes the political, economic and military case:

Some things in life are quite simple. Here’s one of them: Sen. John McCain is going to be our next president.

How do I know?

For starters, McCain will have a unified Republican party — conservatives and all — working hard for him. He’s also going to win over the Reagan Democrats, the Bush Democrats, and the Perot independents. These folks demand a strong military, want government off their backs, and are sick and tired of growing federal deficits and out-of-control spending. McCain’s their man.

One of the troubles with American politics nowadays is that we don’t appreciate our military men and women enough. We don’t value their intelligence, their fitness, or their values. There was a time in American history — especially in the 19th century — when we held the military in great esteem. George Washington, of course, was one of our bravest generals, blessed with uncommon character and strength. Well, John McCain is a descendant of George Washington, and is a foot solder in his army. America yearns for exactly that kind of foot soldier. That’s why he’s gonna win.

I concur. The tantrums have been thrown, the point has been made. Time to move on.

Am I ecstatic that McCain will get the nomination? No. Can I live with it? Yes. Will I vote for him? I’ll hold my nose, but yes, I will. Compromise is often how we get things done. The country will survive.

The alternative is a Dhimmicratic president who will be a socialistic in all but fact. The only real differences between the two possibilities (The Glacier and The Messiah) are the degree of their inexperience, the degree of their narcissism, and who they are married to.

I don’t care to live under a in-all-but-name socialist government. With McCain, we have have a shot of not going down that road.

Not me. I plan to end my tantrum some time in late November.

If your local congresscritter race has a shot at pushing a moonbat out of office, blogagog, you might want to consider voting there.

Good piece, Jules, and exactly right. People are not looking hard at the horrible alternative, or there wouldn’t even be a quibble about this.

    Lemmie see….
one of the deomcratic contenders refers to the US presence in Iraq as an “occupation”….

Sad to say…but I would vote for the Hildebeast before I would vote for him.

JUMP, Pat! It’d be good riddance.

Masterful piece over at PJM, Jules. I need to remember to not look at comments sometimes, because my head explodes, and that sorta hurts. Buncha idiotarian yahoos.

Who, exactly are the conservative power brokers mentioned in the referenced article? Whoever they may be, McCain has been giving them the finger from the Senate and the campaign stump for years, why should they expect that he would do anything else from the White House?

As to supporting the war, it is the only thing he has left to say that would convince any conservative to even think of voting for him. He has to emit war whoops or he has no support in the party to the right of Olympia Snowe. What’s to say that after his (very unlikely) election he won’t decide to weasel out of the war? I can hear it now: “Eisenhower, great president, war hero, got us out of Korea, just following Ike’s example….” Tell me why I should trust him.

Appointing conservative judges? He could appoint all the conservative judges he wanted to and would still have to get his appointees confirmed by the Senate whose Judiciary Committee will be stacked with liberals, including McCain’s favorite trading partners, Ted Kennedy and Russ Feingold. Good luck on your new crop of conservative jurists.
