God Tests Humanity

With a Democratic race that presents a dilemma of biblical proportions. The Prophet Bill Clinton, via Washington Post:

“All my life I’ve wanted to vote for a woman for president,” Clinton said, describing the struggles of his late mother to put him through school on the salary from a low-paying job. And as a child of the segregated South, he said, “All my life I’ve wanted to vote for an African-American president”

“Some days I wake up, even as convicted as I am, saying, ‘Why did God give us this choice?’ ” Clinton said. “I know it’s not easy. Do what you think is right.”

Clearly God is testing our credulity. I like this part:

“I love this election because you don’t have be against anybody,” Clinton said from the pulpit during 11 a.m. services at Greater Mt. Nebo AME Church. “We’ve all been in elections where we voted for one person just to keep someone else from being elected… I don’t feel that way.”

We’ll see if he’s still turning the other cheek in a few days, if the Obamomentum keeps up.

“Some days I wake up, even as convicted as I am…”

Not nearly as convicted as he should have been.

Even better entertainment if he wakes up and Obama won the Democratic nomination, and Bill realizes his dream of returning to the White House is gone forever. That will be the day we’ll see Billary cry for real.

When Billy Jeff gets charming, it’s time to circle the wagons. He’s just trying to suck up after screwing up so much recently.

Several times during the Billary circus, I’ve gotten the feeling that Bill doesn’t really want Hillary in the White House at all and is doing what he can get away with to put a stop to it. Just a thought.

  5. Obama rising, Hillary sliding, GOP’s all CINOS now! | The Anchoress Says:

[...] After almost 15 years of rabid partisanship and “scorched earth” permanent campaigning, Americans are hungry for a message that unites instead of divides; we are starved for the rhetoric of rising tides which lift all boats. America seems to be so grateful for someone new after too many years of the same-old-faces-with-the-same old-ideas, that they are not even thinking about specific policies. They just want to hear good things again, and to believe in them. They want to see leadership that seems effortless and unscripted; they want to be spoken to without the hesitancy of Bushian-malaprops or the hard-edges of Clintonian-mendacity. [...]

Too true, salty. One day, it’s he’s pining for the female interns. The next, he’s personally pushing the button to launch a torpedo spread towards the USS Hillary.

But I lean towards the hypothesis (better stated by other bloggers) that Billy Jeff, being the hardcore narcissist that he is, longs for another shot at being in the history books.

His 8 year stint in the White House took place during a period of relative calm in the world (and I stress the word “relative”), and truly, what did he accomplish? Not all that much. BJ essentially rode the economic wave created by Reagan. He did so quite well, but there’s no glory in maintaining a even keel.

Indeed, his “footprints in the sands of time” come from being impeached after lying about a sordid affair, and shooting a camel in the butt with a multi-million dollar missile. That’ll put his administration right down near the bottom of the “Most Notable Presidents” lists.

So getting back into the White House as co-President (and that’s exactly what it will be, let’s not kid ourselves) during the middle of a war is a grand opportunity for BJ, and he’ll do anything for that shot at “greatness”.
