Sexists for Hill
That’s what the Boston Herald’s Margery Eagan figures is the net result of “nutcracker” remarks and all the wild-eyed Hill shots.
Take a look at the pictures news outlets run (shown here). Typically, Hillary looks like a crazy person, her mouth agape, her eyes as bug-eyed as the runaway bride’s. Meanwhile, Barack Obama typically looks cool, calm, collected - or, better yet, pensive and reflective.
Good question. How come she always looks like that? The woman is trying way too hard. Bad life of the party act. But Margery’s got a point. Maybe it’s time to start slamming Obama for looking so serious and earnest all the time. If he’d just start hamming it up and making faces.
I say equal opportunity mockery, seeing as Margery and I work at a newspaper that rarely misses a chance to run unflattering pictures of pols male, female, left, right. Margery, like a lot of other people, has found Hill’s appearance endlessly fascinating. And I’d hate to think people would have to stop calling McCain old, and Bush chimpy looking. Romney’s out, so we can retire the Ken Doll jokes. How come everyone is so obsessed with Obama’s complexion, anyway? If they ignored the charm and the mellifluous tones, and paid more attention to what he’s saying, they might figure out what a bad idea electing him is. Did it ever get definitively answered, the question about incongruence of Reagan’s turkey wattle and youthful chestnut coif? Some people think Richard Nixon’s five o’clock shadow played a key role in croaking him in 1960. The intense focus on Bill’s weight and cheeseburger issues then, how gaunt he is now. Those guys don’t get a break. I don’t know about you, but I don’t plan to stop mocking pols for trying to look rugged, manly with guns in Iowa, especially when they have awkward family issues. But I hope this doesn’t mean, if Hill gets elected, we won’t be able to talk about the pressing issues of the day without being called sexist. Especially seeing how she’s been turning on the waterworks lately.

I honestly don’t think the woman could cry if you broke both her legs. And, when most people cry, their eyes turn red. I don’t see anything but clear white sclera there.

When Hillary shakes the umpteenth hand for the day, or is (was) attempting to be cheerful at a book signing as yet another slavering, sycophantic soul steps forward…she gets that wide eyed (bug eyed) look.
It’s how she deals with the unpleasantness of the modern day flesh pressing phenomenon.
It’s the device she uses to feign the “caring-I’m interested in you” thing.
Then there’s “the laugh”, when she’s asked a difficult question or “something about” Bill.
