Waterboarding Bad!
Votes a morally indignant Dem Senate, acting on the highest principles. Principles detailed below. Opposing the anti-waterboarding vote is principled maverick McCain, who oddly seems to be acting on other principles. NYT:
Senate Democrats, sensing an opportunity to highlight a policy dispute between the White House and Senator John McCain, the likely Republican presidential nominee, had been hoping that Republicans would make a procedural challenge to the provision on interrogation methods.
Mr. McCain, a former prisoner of war, has consistently voiced opposition to waterboarding and other methods that critics say is a form torture. But the Republicans, confident of a White House veto, did not mount the challenge. Mr. McCain voted “no” on Wednesday afternoon.
I wonder why the Dems didn’t do this sooner. They’ve known about waterboarding for at least six years, after all. Anyway, next time a high-value al Qaeda suspect fails to spill in a timely fashion about plans for a murderous attack, we’ll know who to thank.
If McCain is guilt of doing the right thing, guess who committed the sin of omission. Toldjah on who didn’t vote.
Gateway on who isn’t getting wacked for torture.
Michelle’s got your worldwide Gitmo protest art: Looks kind of like Blue Man Group meets Eyes Wide Shut, only orange.
Forget waterboarding. How about the Starbucksing?

“Waterboarding Bad! Votes a morally indignant Dem Senate”
Sensitive souls these Dems, and unpredictable too. They’ll fry a hundred thousand Jap civilians with nuclear bombs one day, then get all weepy and outraged when a mass-murdering terrorist has water splashed in his face the next day.

But they’ll wait six years to do it, Dave.

Don’t confuse Truman or Kennedy with these modern wackjobs. The democratic party has ceased to be the economic left party as much as the identity politics party. They would never ever drop the bomb on people with darker skin than them, because that would be RACIST!!!!!! Can’t defend women or homosexuals in Muslim countries because Muslims are brown people, and condemning brown people is Imperialist!

“They would never ever drop the bomb on people with darker skin than them”
Oh, yes they would, if they thought it would help them politically.
“The ruthless bombing from the air of civilians in unfortified centers of population…has sickened the hearts of every civilized man and woman, and has profoundly shocked the conscience of humanity…. I am therefore addressing this urgent appeal to every Government which may be engaged in hostilities publicly to affirm its determination that its armed forces shall in no event, and under no circumstances, undertake the bombardment from the air of civilian populations.” –Franklin D. Roosevelt
And, a couple of years later we were pounding whole cities out of existence with this same guy at the wheel.
The Dems have been talking that touchy feely we-hate-atrocity crap for ever and a day…and then doing an about face and doing exactly what they were crying about…and today’s Dems aren’t any different than Roosevelt and his crew. They’re only shocked by atrocities of war when they aren’t the ones committing them and/or if they think they can gain political mileage out of abhoring them in public.
As Jules and Rebecca reminded us, several Dems knew damn well they were splashing water in the faces of terrorists at the time it was taking place…and not a word was said, until it became politically expedient for them to start their usual phony moaning about atrocities.
