   Whew! What a rant. And so sneeringly dismissive of previous wars fought on behalf of America by Americans. How old is this guy? He writes like some perpetually angry college student on the lookout for a cause.

   The truth is exactly the opposite. There is nothing more psychologically invigorating than the belief that you are staring down the Greatest and Most Evil Enemy Ever in History, courageously waging glorious war for all that is Good and Just in the world. Nothing produces more pulsating feelings of excitement and nobility like convincing yourself that you are a Warrior defending Western Civilization from the greatest threat it has ever faced, following in — even surpassing — the mighty footsteps of the Greatest Generation and the Warrior-Crusaders who came before them.

   Well, Greenwald should know, having styled himself a Warrior defending Western Civilization from the Greatest and Most Evil Enemy Ever in History — George W. Bush.

   You should have warned me that I was going to need to shower after reading Greenwalds nonsense. That was worse than visiting the Democratic Underground.

   Whatever. I have more practical reasons for wanting our government to fight against terrorists and state sponsors of terrorism. Here’s two of them.

   1.) Revenge for the thousands of Americans who have already been murdered by various terror groups.

   2.) The desire to kill them all before my wife and kids are the next ones to get flown into the side of a skyscraper.

   I’ll leave it to philosophical giants like Greenwald to decide who is good and who is evil, because I’m really not all that interested in trying to figure it out. I just want terrorists to die.

   I’m not the biggest Greenwald fan, but the “Chickenhawk” phenomenon certainly holds true for my generation. People who feel moral justification in combating terror by slapping a few support the troops magnets on their SUV represents a serious problem with modern culture. I agree that information dispersal via the blogosphere is important, but the military is stretched to the breaking point because of these two wars (don’t believe me, listen to what Adm. Mullen has been saying the last month), and we could certainly use some of these “keyboard commandos” to actually make some real sacrifices to combat the very real threat of terror.

   Lt Nixon,

   I think the reason the military is overburdened is that the Prez and the Congress have unfortunately neglected to expand it. Far as I’ve heard, the services haven’t had any trouble meeting their recruiting goals.
