There’s the Right Way
The wrong way, the Army way, my way, the highway … then there’s the American way. Joyner, threading off a WaPo op-ed condemning caucuses, mulls the way we elect presidents. I’ll just add that it’s curious a political system that was designed like 18th century clockwork ended up with this Rube Goldberg appendage, but unfortunately the people who would be in charge of fixing it are the ones who can be least relied on not to screw it up more.

The Founding Fathers did not account for corruption and selfishness in their system. Taken to the basics, brushing off the appendages, the electoral college works. It’s been the political parties (please note the plural form of the noun) what screwed the system up, jockeying around for advantage..
