Fine American Tradition

The Mohawk. Now a suspendible offense.

Here’s some other Americans who did that. They weren’t kindergarteners with attitude or rebellious grocery baggers, though. They wanted to psyche themselves up and psyche out their enemy.

Two members of the Filthy 13 paint their faces the day before D-Day.

Here are a couple more historic Americans with Mohawks. More of a fashion statement, I think, combined with tribal identity, scary the crap out of enemies, all of that.

Rebellious look invented by British punks who are now in their 50s.

Actually, it’s not. Two of my cousins (now in their late 60s and 70s) were suspended from high school for having Mohawk haircuts. And that was Texas long before the rebellious punk era (they were also Eagle scouts and dressed up as Indians for a parade). They weren’t the only ones who did it either.
