Blow Me Up Once
Shame on you. Blow me up twice … you know the old saying. So al Qaeda and the backward semi-literates of the Taliban have learned nothing from Global Jihad’s miserable experience in Iraq. Gateway has the roundup on the suicide bombing of a tribal meeting to discuss peace that drew thousands in Pakistan’s Northwest Frontier Province. Meanwhile, U.S. counterinsurgency trainers enroute.

Our hard earned COIN knowledge and, I assume, money, is about all we can give them, and I hope it’s enough. At least the people of Pakistan have the lesson of Iraq to learn from. It looks like some are trying to get ahead of the curve, and of course were promptly punished with a suicide bombing.

How to win friends……

This just illustrates the glaring fact that al-Qaeda and the Taliban are nothing but ignorant, murderous brutes, in love with killing. It can’t be any clearer than that, but unfortunately, some in our society are absolutely blind to it.

Some in our society are absolutely blind to it, Rebecca, but fortunately other Muslims are not. Of course, they are living daily with the direct consequences, while the ignorant or America/Bush haters in our own country have been living under the umbrella of safety in our own country, while ignoring the deaths of Iraqis and our own people (except, of course, as political pawns with which to damn the umbrella of safety).

Demonstrating once again that these militant slobs will freely slaughter their fellow Muslims in the name of preserving their little safe havens.
In Afghanistan, the Taliban were initially welcomed as bringers of stability. Towards the end and after Osama and crowd infused themselves into the Taliban, their power position was maintained through fear and intimidation of the Afghan people.
Americans and British can train troops to fight against the militants but official government troops are resented by the tribal people in the region.
As in Iraq, any sustainable turnaround is contingent on the tribes themselves having enough of the murderous militants living among them.
