Ass-Kicking Planned
Weekly Standard on McCain’s campaign plans starts with some anonymous Texans and their campaign plans:
“I wonder if the New York Times is here?”
“I’d like to kick their ass!”
And continues with description of McCain’s tour plans, plans to stay available to the press and public, in contrast to tightly controlled Dem candidates. Potential for great moments comes with great risks.
Meanwhile, Newsweek via Surber on the McCain Democrats.

I could be wrong, but I think it’s a net plus for McCain to stay open with the press. For one, he’s good with a timely quip, which will make his campaign (and him, by extension) seem more nimble when he can fire back at Obama or make him pay for a mistake like he did the other day with the “al-Queda in Iraq” zinger. You can be sure that Obama will have anything he wants reported immediately, but McCain can’t rely on that and needs reporters around him if he wants that to happen.
