What’s Good for the Dingbat

Is good for the old bat. That has to be the rationale behind the Obama camp’s demand that Clinton ditch Ferraro like they had to ditch Power. CNN

(CNN) — Barack Obama’s chief strategist said Tuesday that a comment by one of Hillary Clinton’s top fundraisers that Barack Obama would not be a major presidential contender if he were not black – coupled with Clinton’s “own inexplicable unwillingness” to deny that he was a Muslim during a recent interview – indicated “an insidious pattern that needs to be addressed.”

David Axelrod called on the New York senator to drop former New York Rep. Geraldine Ferraro from her finance committee. “When you wink and nod at offensive statements you’re really sending a signal to your supporters that anything goes,” said Axelrod.

Ferraro, the Democratic Party’s vice presidential nominee in 1984, told the (Torrance, California) Daily Breeze that “If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position. And if he was a woman he would not be in this position. He happens to be very lucky to be who he is. And the country is caught up in the concept.”

She proceeds to yap on about how Hillary suffers because she’s a woman and the press hates her. I’d suggest it’s more like she got where she is on Bill’s coattails, and is paying the price for that. Would she be there otherwise? Who knows. Also, she’s got that “monster” problem. Obama, meanwhile, would be a slightly less qualified John Edwards. But Ferraro has said the forbidden thing. Truth-teller Power could have brazened it out, but her bouncing gives the Obamists a little high ground in the distancing demands, I suppose.

I’m starting to like the old bat. Check this out. National Post:

“I have to tell you that what I find is offensive is that everytime somebody says something about the campaign, you’re accused of being racist,” Ferraro told Fox News Channel.

” ‘Any time anybody does anything that in any way pulls this campaign down and says let’s address reality and the problems we’re facing in this world, you’re accused of being racist, so you have to shut up. Racism works in two different directions. I really think they’re attacking me because I’m white. How’s that?’ “

Prior re isms.

Again, glad to see Obama’s on the attack. Let the bleeding continue.

    What was it, Mondull/Ferraro?

Oh, that would have been good. Most of the world would be speaking Russian and living in a gulag. But at least we’d have universal health care!

Never cared for Ferraro, but she’s opened a door and let some air in where air was desperately needed. Maybe now we as a nation can come to terms with the fact that a double standard in race relations in still a double standard, even when it supposedly benefits the minority.

Leftys tearing each other to shreds.

    I love it.

I agree about the fresh air. And loving watching what the Dems are doing to each other.

I never thought I would say this, but Ferraro has a point. Would Obama be where he is if he were not black? I am not so sure he would. I think his race has helped him a great deal. Of course he is also a gifted speaker and charismatic, but still I think that if he were white he would be Dick Durbin.

This is what you get with identity politics. Candidates arguing not over policies, but over which gender and skin color is “luckiest.” Accusations of racism/misogyny from all sides at the slightest provocation. Adults fighting like children over literally skin deep qualities.

I certainly hope that people who consider themselves to be liberal are paying attention. Especially young people. Do you like what you see happening here? Is this how you think it should be?
