Spitzer Resigns

He’s out. “To whom much is given … take responsibility … will ask no less of myself.” Who cares. I don’t live in New York.  He’s not my gubernatorial hypocrite with a major high-priced hooker problem. Spitzer staying in would have been more fun, especially with all the awkward Clinton comparisons continuing … as long as they need to continue. So here’s the fun while it lasts:

The Last of the Few: Politician linked to Prostitute. Prostitute Expresses Shame, Begs Forgiveness.

Michelle: Spitzer T-Shirt Mania! And other Spitzerabilia.

Surber: Love Potion No. 9

Politico: If stupidity ever gets to $200 a barrel, I want drilling rights to Spitzer’s head. What was he thinking? (can I get a big head, little head joke here please?)

Lefties perform gymnastics to explain how a married man in a high-level law enforcement and public leadership position engaging in the sex trade is not that big a deal.

WSJ’s Strassel: Spitzer’s Media Enablers (serious column with some seriously ironic lines)

Spitzer

ABC: “He didn’t do anything that wasn’t clean.” Nice guy was a good tipper, says 22-year-old hooker. (Serious news report that illustrates in picture and word, somewhat entertainingly, why morals issues are political death.)

NYPost: Spitzer dropped $80,000 on hookers over 10 years (serious article on tragic situation but sooner or later you have to laugh when you realize how much $$$ this guy was throwing at hookers. Also, because no one does it like a tabloid):

Spitzer, a millionaire, was hopping into bed with harlots for as long as 10 years and traveled as far as Florida for call-girl trysts, sources said.

The prostitute-patronizing former prosecutor spent today huddled with top aides and lawyers in his Fifth Avenue apartment - trying to arrange a plea deal under which he’d resign his office but avoid prison time - as he desperately clung to power despite growing cries for his departure, even among fellow Democrats.

OK, cruel Spitzer lookalike photo contest. He’s up there. They’re down here:

I like JohnPodhoretz’s description of Spitzer as “an Appetite in human form”. That’s one comparison to Bill Clinton that no one could dispute.

Should He Stay Or Should He Go // UPDATE: Resignin

Spitzer will resign effective Monday, March 17. Wow. St. Patrick’s Day and my anniversary. How sweet.

  3. Fatty Bolger Says:

Didn’t Clinton make that same face after the truth about Monica Lewinsky came out?

  4. saltydog Says:

Well, I like the first picture, but the media have managed to come up with a couple of goodies that they must have had hidden somewhere in the morgue. Now they use him.

I’ve long despised this opportunist. He has abused his position in the most egregious way, wrecking lives without a thought. I’m glad to see justice, which has now been done no matter what the rest of the world chooses to do to him.

“Now they use them.” It’s the meds.

I can’t imagine the tears of joy on Wall Street.

I think the real story hasn’t even begun yet. If Spitzer was doing this for ten years, including the time he was prosecuting other prostitution rings, then the question becomes did he go after them and lay off (no pun intended) the Emperors Club? If so, he’s fair game for the Feds.

80 large on hookers? That’s more than I made last year. Another Democrat man of the people huh?

“He didn’t do anything that wasn’t clean.”

Other than cheat on his wife, engage in various illegal activities and making a career out of shaking down gangsters and corporate executives.
