About That Report
Other views re direct operational links and lack thereof:
Hot Air: Yeah, but what about the IIS contacts with Al Qaeda and the conclusion that Saddam was nurturing of global jihad as one of the few tools left in his “coercion” toolbox?
Weekly Standard: Yeah, but what about the “considerable overlap” and “de facto links.” You know, when they would ”work together in pursuit of shared goals but still maintain their autonomy and independence because of innate caution and mutual distrust.”
Ace, tapping his fingers: Yeah, but is anyone going to issue a correction?
Topics: Intel, Iraq, Saddam, al qaeda

The Baathists not only supported terrorism, they were the primary backers of at least three terrorist organizations that murdered American citizens, namely the FRC, the PLF and the MEK.
The lefty liars are careful to avoid any mention of those terror groups so they can focus all their energies on knocking down the Al-Qaida-Baathist strawman they have constructed as a supposed justification for the war in Iraq.
The official reasons for the use of our military in Iraq are contained in the Joint Resolution to Authorize the Use of United States Armed Forces Against Iraq, which says:
“Whereas members of al Qaida, an organization bearing responsibility for attacks on the United States, its citizens, and interests, including the attacks that occurred on September 11, 2001, are known to be in Iraq;”
…which was true, and a totally just reason for us to use force against Al Qaida in Iraq whether or not the Baathists are aiding them.
“Whereas Iraq continues to aid and harbor other international terrorist organizations, including organizations that threaten the lives and safety of American citizens; ”
Which was also true, and is a perfectly just reason for us to use force against both the terror groups in question and against the government of Iraq. Terrorists don’t get to murder American citizens, and foreign governments don’t get to help them do it. If they do do it, that means war.
Nowhere in the Joint Resolution does it say that we are making war on Iraq because the Baathists are in cahoots with Al Qaida. That was not a reason for the use of American military force in Iraq, lefty traitor propaganda notwithstanding.
