Another One Bites The Dust

Rev. Wright down. Politico

Spokesman Tommy Vietor emails:

“Rev. Wright is no longer serving on the African American Religious Leadership Committee.”

That cuts Wright’s only formal tie to Obama, and answers what was sure to be a question in Obama’s interviews tonight: If Geraldine Ferraro had to leave the Clinton campaign, why is Wright different.

You’ll enjoy Obama, who’s opted to deny his spiritual guide before the cock crows over at HuffPo. In “On My Faith and My Church,” Obama explains that he went to worship with the crazy old coot because he was a former United States Marine, so he believed in his heart he was praying with someone who loved America. At least I think that’s the impression he wanted to convey when he led off with this:

As I have written about in my books, I first joined Trinity United Church of Christ nearly twenty years ago. I knew Rev. Wright as someone who served this nation with honor as a United States Marine, as a respected biblical scholar, and as someone who taught or lectured at seminaries across the country, from Union Theological Seminary to the University of Chicago. He also led a diverse congregation that was and still is a pillar of the South Side and the entire city of Chicago. It’s a congregation that does not merely preach social justice but acts it out each day, through ministries ranging from housing the homeless to reaching out to those with HIV/AIDS.

“As I have written about” … that syntax is a little screwy, Obie. Anyway, it’s also a congregation that has heard thrice its pastor invoke God’s damnation of America, and also have been informed the Zionists are terrorists.  Obie appears to be suggesting he missed that, but in any case, he kept going back because the social justice they were doling out was so just.

This keeps up, they’ll have put a stake both in the heart of political correctness and their chances of taking the White House.  Either or both of which would be wonderful things.  This truly has been a remarkable campaign, in large part thanks to the messianic rise of Obama and the subsequent revelation of his clay-footedness.

Anyway, even if he listened to the old codger rattle on for 20 years, they’ve shoved the blabbering uncle in the attic and are proceeding with the social justice, so it’s all good now.

Yeah but the doddering old crazy uncle taught the blushing bride to hate America so his work is done. Now why aren’t we using middle names? Especially since the madrassas also teach hatred of the US. To go from one hating religious establishment to another one speaks of continuity in his philosophical direction. Evidently he gets to slide on the Islamic apostate charge. Something isn’t passing the smell test.

  2. Vanguard of the Commentariat Says:

MikeH, he would have to get a pass on the Islamic apostate charge (death penalty as I recall) because it would be very difficult to square Islam with some of the Dem party stances on say, abortion or women’s rights, hell, on the death penalty itself. Not to mention the fact that the lovely and talented Mickey O would have to wear sheets and speak only when spoken to.

Of course the other way to look at this is now a messianic Democrat “man of the people” just threw an elderly “veteran” who was his lifelong friend and mentor under the bus in his quest for power. Wonder how AARP feels about that?

The mental gymnastics these people must have to perform every day is tiring to think about.

The real problem for me isn’t whether or not Obama was present for the “g.d. America” or the “AIDS given intentionally to blacks” sundry diatribes in the Reverend Wright’s sermonizing.

The real problem for me is that Barack’s longtime friend and old, trusted “uncle” is a promulgator of Black Liberation Theology and an avid supporter of the theories of James Cone.

Which are based in black power and, really, indistinguishable from the precepts of the hate mongering Louis Farrakhan’s Nation of Islam.

The Reverend Jeremiah Wright often speaks of his understanding of and nearness to Jesus.

But there is no relationship between the teachings of Jesus and the promulgation of hatred (of “the white man”) and divisiveness within Black Liberation Theology.

I’m quite sure “Jesus” would have lumped the good Reverend in with the scribes and the pharisees.

  4. Dave Surls Says:

Jeremiah Wright is a racist, America-hating demagogue who calls on God to damn America, and Barack Hussein Obama is one of his foillowers.

What else needs to be said?

  5. RebeccaH Says:

I’m getting a clearer picture of Obama (and his wife) every day. I believe it was Michelle on insisted on Trinity United Church of Christ. The kind of rhetoric the Rev. Wright spews out explains a lot about her, in fact. And I begin to believe that she is the power behind the throne, who perhaps dreams of her own Hillaryesque campaign some day, and that Barack is pretty much an empty suit, moved about at her whim.

Not that there’s anything wrong with that. But the contempt she holds for white America is pretty clear.

  6. MikeH Says:

Well, not to belabor a point, but the folks that are giving him the pass on apostasy aren’t the Dems. The folks who are giving him the pass go berserk at the sight of a cartoon. They’re awfully quiet these days, and out of character. By all rights the mere mention of O’bama’s name should drive them into a spittle-spewing frenzy.

  7. Vanguard of the Commentariat Says:

Concur Mike. Islam is giving him the pass because they desire him to be the President, (and because it is not the Dem’s pass to give). I’m just saying it must be a real reach to square Islamic values with Democrat ones. Seems to me political Muslims like Keith Ellison et al would be more at home on the Right, owing to our purported fundamentalism, religious intolerance, subjugation of women, anti-choice ways and all. Its just another aspect of the political world that does not make sense unless you assign malicious intent to it.

  8. Tralfaz Says:

One has to remember it’s all about the power. Doesn’t matter who is thrown under the bus, disavowed, or crushed as long as Obama or Hillary acquire the power. Once obtain, all will be forgiven on the liberal/socialist side because they now can direct the power against their true enemies - the right. They’ll go hammer and tongs against each other for the time being but the goal is to permanently destroy the right.

You’ll notice it never really matters what the scandal is on the left as long as the perp has a D next to their name.

  9. tanstaafl Says:

As I approached the entrance of the church before a recent Sunday service, a large young man in an expensive suit stepped out to block the doorway.

“What are you doing here?” he asked.

“I came to hear Dr. Wright,” I replied.

After an uncomfortable pause, the gentleman stepped aside.

On this particular July Sabbath morning, only a handful of white men — aside from a few members of Obama’s Secret Service detail — were present among a congregation of approximately 2,500 people.

The floral arrangements were extravagant. Wright, his associate pastors, choir members, and many of the gentlemen in the congregation were attired in traditional African dashiki robes. African drums accompanied the organist.

Trinity United bears the motto “Unashamedly Black and Unapologetically Christian.”

Wright says its doctrine reflects black liberation theology, which views the Bible in part as a record of the struggles of “people of color” against oppression.

A skilled and fiery orator, Wright’s interpretation of the Scriptures has been described as “Afrocentric.”

When referring to the Romans, for example, he refers to “European oppression” — not addressing the fact that the Egyptians, who were also a slave society, were people of Africa.

…Wright’s strong sentiments were echoed in the Sunday morning service attended by NewsMax.

Wright laced into America’s establishment, blaming the “white arrogance” of America’s Caucasian majority for the woes of the world, especially the oppression suffered by blacks. To underscore the point he refers to the country as the “United States of White America.” Many in the congregation, including Obama, nodded in apparent agreement as these statements were made.

    A Sunday at Trinity Church

  10. MikeH Says:

Now that we’ve got that settled we can get back to the betting on how long it’s going to take for O’bama’s campaign to implode.

    Yo Otis, your cue.
