St. Pat’s Parade

LCpl Walter “Gator” O’Haire’s pals from Golf Co., 2/6 Marines, march through his hometown, South Boston, in yesterday’s St. Pat’s parade. O’Haire was killed in action in Anbar May 9, 2007, shot in the head while on patrol, six days short of his 21st birthday. Boston Herald on the parade here, on O’Haire’s mom hosting of his fellow Marines here. Photo gallery here. O’Haire’s family page here. More on O’Haire and his family here and here.

May 9th, 2007 was my 23rd birthday. I was out in sector near Falluja, supporting Golf Company, 2/6 Marines. Glad to see them home.

Bless your heart TD.
Note green fouragere awarded to 6th Marines (and 5th I believe) by France in WW1.
