Toon Up

Bin Laden’s a little behind the Motoon curve, but he does live in a cave in Waziristan.  The “intelligent ones” will get tooned if they don’t smarten up. AFP:

WASHINGTON (AFP) — Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden warned Europe Wednesday of a “reckoning” for publishing controversial cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed, US monitoring groups said.

In the message, addressed to the “intelligent ones” in the European Union, bin Laden said that publishing the “insulting drawings” was a greater crime than Western forces targeting Muslim villages and killing women and children.

And the “reckoning for it will be more severe,” he said, according to a transcript of the message provided by the Virginia-based IntelCenter.

Referring to a series of cartoons published in Danish newspapers, the Al-Qaeda leader also warned: “if there is no check on the freedom of your words, then let your hearts be open to the freedom of our actions.”

And cryptically he added that the Muslims’ response to the insult will be “what you see, not what you hear.”

OBL’s priorities and grasp of the situation on the ground in Afghanitsan sound a little screwy. But that’s neither here nor three. Sounds like the EU better start prosecuting Danes.

Dyed-beard geezer’s got some nerve talking about “the ettiquettes of dispute and the morals of fighting.” Jawa’s got your OBL vid.

Bold words from a dead man.

Also, addressing threats to the “intelligent ones” in the European Union is pretty much a leap of faith.

The European Union has “intelligent ones?” Who knew?

He does offer us a nice choice between words and actions. He obviously never heard of “sticks and stones,” but then folks here have tossed that helpful adage in lieu of victim politics, so he lacks a better example. One only truly gets it, however, when one reads the admonition: “. . . bin Laden said that publishing the ‘insulting drawings’ was a greater crime than Western forces targeting Muslim villages and killing women and children.” Now I understand how it is that AlQ can target Muslim villages and kill women and children without being concerned about the consequences. As long as they aren’t leaving us cave drawings of Mo, they’re good to go.

Bin laden (if this audiotape has anything to do with bin laden) shows his degenerative mindset here.

His focus on so called Islamic purity and outrage at depiction of “the Prophet” (Mohammed has been depicted thousands if not millions of times over the centuries)…shows bin’s obsessive/compulsive mindset.
