Nico Lied, People Re-Died

Grinning Huffington Post national editor uses the dead to paint a picture.  

Not bad likenesses. Nico is either very talented or has a very talented computer. Nico’s dodge, “the two men who would continue this tragedy,” allows him to keep out Hillary Clinton, John Kerry and the rest of the United States senators and representatives who voted for war. Also the United Nations Security Council, which authorized the use of force against Iraq over Saddam Hussein’s longstanding defiance of numerous resolutions. Nico ruefully notes he didn’t have enough U.S. soldier death to complete his image so he had to repeat headshots. He might consider it artistic license. But it sounds kind of like Nico lied, people repeatedly died. 

Here’s a project for Nico: mosaic of Obama from all the photos of the people he hopes won’t get killed by his dangerous and ridiculous policies.

Nico to judge by his photo at the link looks quite pleased with his work. But this anonymous, grotesquely political use of the dead in a caricature seems somehow disrespectful. Perhaps Nico can demonstrate the depth of his giving a shit by making mosiacs of each of the 4,000 dead out of, I dunno, all 300 million Americans and 25 million Iraqis they died for.

   My artistic impression of this picture is that it doesn’t say “touching political statement” anywhere near as much as it says “aren’t I clever, everybody?”.

   Pointless stuff and therefore up to the usual standards from Huffington.

   Where are all the African-Americans the Rev. Wright insisted were dying in an illegal war? The photos seem to be overwhelmingly white.

   If Nico tried to make a picture of Obama, the man would look way more white than black.

   In any case, making a picture out of the photos of the dead is macabre.

   Ghouls, feasting on the dead, at Huffington. They have no real shame, no actual respect, no true love, no moral character. My son is in the Green Zone in Baghdad waiting on a plane ride home, after 15 months outside the wire in Ramadi, Fallujah, and Baghdad. I am so filled with sorrow for the Gold Star Families who have been so assaulted by Nico’s “art”, so emotionally tired from having my son in harm’s way, that I cannot ration up the anger this despicable image deserves. Maybe tomorrow.

   May God’s disposition of this matter coincide with my discernment of it.

   Gee, where’s the one with 58,000 dead that makes a picture of JFK (Democrat) and LBJ (Democrat)?
   Or the one with 38,000 dead that makes a picture of Truman (Democrat)?
   Or the one with 450,000 dead that makes a picture of FDR (Democrat)?
   Or the one with 60,000 dead (in only 8 months of combat) that makes a picture of Woodrow Wilson (Democrat)?
