An Ear for an Ear
Ancient justice advocated for a Finnish tourist’s vandalism of ancient mystery statues on Easter Island. via Boston Herald:
“If an ear is cut off, then an ear gets cut,” Mayor Edmunds Paoa said. “Eye for eye, tooth for tooth: That would be my form of justice.”
Marko Kulju has apologized. The attractiveness of biblical or maybe old-school Polynesian justice notwithstanding, I’d like to see what most supreme justice Peter Olszewski would mete out for the tattooed ear-smashing Finn. Sandwich board and a march-around, “I went to Easter Island and all I got was this international humiliation,” or a graduate degree in antiquities conservation?
Full disclosure: I raped the ancient culture of Iraq, committing the worst atrocities since the Mongol sacking of Baghdad in 1258. Either that or I nicked a painting of Saddam Hussein.

Um… your last link goes back to the Judge Olszewski post, Jules. Was that intended?
Perhaps a fitting punishment for Marko Kulju would be to make him carve a full-sized stone maoi all by himself.
