Blatant Opportunists Against Blatant Opportunism
Howard Dean slams John McCain’s shameless plan to point out he’s been there, done that. ABC’s Political Punch:
The Republican Party has seized upon the term “blatant opportunist” to suggest that Dean is implying McCain is an opportunist for including his POW information in his TV ad.
RNC Deputy Chairman Frank Donatelli said, “Howard Dean owes John McCain an immediate apology and both Sens. Clinton and Obama should unequivocally denounce this disgraceful attack.”
That’s all noise. What’s more interesting are the Dean quotes from 2004 that may come back to haunt him this year.
“The real issue is this,” Dean said in March 2004, when endorsing formal rival Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., “Who would you rather have in charge of the defense of the United States of America, a group of people who never served a day overseas in their life, or a guy who served his country honorably and has three Purple Hearts and a Silver Star on the battlefields of Vietnam?”
To a finer point on it, who would you rather have in charge of the defense of the United States of America, someone who wants to surrender or someone who wants to win? As for Kerry, the only thing I’d add is that reasonable people can disagree over whether three-scratches-and-a-sayonara, adios amigos, four months into a yearlong combat command constitutes serving any of the concerned parties honorably or whether it would have commended the bolter in question to lead an entire nation in booming peacetime, let alone war.

I don’t know why the DNC keeps the enormously shallow and easily seen through (not to mention inept) Howard Dean as its Chairman.
Are they that desperate ?
Does HoDe have some kind of contract to hold the position until…X… or something ?
The rest, comparing service records of John (”gee, I hope these Swift Boats don’t go anywhere dangerous” and “I’ll use my three bandaid wounds to get the hell out of Dodge”) Eff’n Kerry and John McCain seems ludicrous.
But, then, a lot of things seem ludicrous these days.

Are we talking about the ‘Sliver Saint’ again? When did he get out of Hanoi? Did McCain have to carry him out?

As long as the Democrats are content to keep Howard Dean as Chairman of their party, that makes my choices for who’s fit to run the country extremely easy.

Kerry’s questionable medals aside, it was his actions after leaving the Navy that were so disgusting.
