He joins Marine Corporal Jason L. Dunham, who received his posthumous Medal of Honor for the same heroic action of falling on a grenade to save his comrades.

Marine Sergeant Rafael Peralta and Army Spc. Ross McGinnis are also under consideration for the Medal of Honor for sacrificing their lives to shield others from a grenade blast.
