Marilyn Flick

Brings $1.5 million, but the public will never see this bit of history.* We’re going straight to Actress Archives for this one:

Memorabilia collector Keya Morgan told the New York Post that a businessman purchased the film for $1.5 million, but plans to lock it up for safekeeping. “He said, ‘I’m not going to make a Paris Hilton out of her. I’m not going to sell it, out of respect.’ ”

The silent 16 mm black-and-white film is fifteen minutes long, and features the former Miss Norma Jean on her knees, performing oral sex on an unidentified male.

“You see instantly that it’s Marilyn Monroe - she has the famous mole,” Morgan said. “She’s smiling, she’s very charming, she’s very radiant, but she’s known for being radiant.” Morgan stated that the starlet then steps out of the frame and the film stops.

Since the purchaser vowed he’d never allow the film to be seen, the collector’s description is all that anyone will know of Marilyn Monroe’s carnal acts. But the story behind the footage is almost as juicy.

Shot in the 1950s, the film was ultimately confiscated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The original is still in the FBI’s possession and considered classified. Bureau director J. Edgar Hoover unsuccessfully tried to prove the man in the film was John F. Kennedy or Robert F. Kennedy.

FBI documents from the 1960s mention a “French-type” film starring Marilyn Monroe. When these records were made public, it alerted the memorabilia collector to the film’s existence. Keya Morgan was doing research for a documentary about the late actress.

He discovered that the filmmaker’s son had made a copy, and that Marilyn Monroe’s ex-husband Joe DiMaggio once offered him $25,000 for the duplicate, but was refused. Perhaps the recent lucrative offer was hard to pass up, or the confidential contingency sealed the deal.

These days, rumors of sex tapes and photos, real or fake, are a dime a dozen: Kim Kardashian, Lindsay Lohan, Shakira, Kristin Davis, and Audrina Patridge have all had risqué rumors of some sort recently.

As AA suggests, this would blow … sorry, bad choice … Paris Hilton and Pamela Anderson out of the water, on sheer historical gravitas. Apparently J. Edgar Hoover put the resources of the FBI to work to figure out whether it was JFK or RFK.  But they say it’s from the mid-50s. I’m going with Hollywood perv/mogul. I’d like to see whatever list of likely suspects Hoover’s dicks came up with. I bet it’s a long one.

By the way, while some people get gushy about how Marilyn was a victim, abused, etc., and I imagine she may well not have intended to be viewed in the context in which she was reportedly captured in this film, the woman was a shameless exhibitionist who took it to the bank, in defiance of the norms of the time. So I’ll leave any moral outrage over this latest development to others.

Ha! Jawa’s a bigger tease than Marilyn.

* Yeah, right. Countdown to Internet release of this important piece of American history starts … now.

One Response to “Marilyn Flick”

  1. RebeccaH Says:

The man was almost certainly not JFK or RFK. If they were so foolish as to allow a film to be made, their handlers would have destroyed it.

Eventually, the owner will sell it, principles notwithstanding. There are only so many millions of dollars you can resist.
