Pin Spotting

A Politico reader caught it. Apparently that true patriotism Obama was expressing by opposing the war in Iraq and his pin eschewage was wearing thin. He felt the need of some pinnage.
Hang on, Politico updates, says it was given to Obama by a disabled veteran. Now that sounds like pandering. I thought he was supposed to be the principled candidate. Some disabled vet offers you a flag pin, you just explain what true patriotism is, right?
Slams on guntoting churchgoers not withstanding, Obama’s been undergoing an evolution on the patriotism front. Personally, I find it less revolting when pols pander to the lumpenproletariat with shots and beer. In fact, that might be a good way to resolve this ongoing Democratic primary thing. Have them debate each other drunk.
If they decide to do that, by the way, my money’s on Hillary. It’s not just that I think she’ll hold her liquor better. It’s an eye-gouging thing.
Come on, Vodkapundit. If we can’t have a drunk debate, let’s at least have it drunkblogged.
Malkin continues her important SNOBama scholarship.

I don’t care about him not wearing a pin. I don’t wear pins.
What I care about is him *not* wearing a pin.
But the silly English language doesn’t give me a way to indicate that the first is passive… and the second is active.
Sort of like I don’t drink but it’s a passive sort of never get around to it not drinking… which is completely different from not drinking because of some active principle of either being an alcoholic on the wagon or thinking it’s a sin.

He can wear all the pins he wants, and put a beanie on his head with a flag stuck in it if he wants to. He’s still not the candidate for me.

Pinnage and Character
Ok, I eschewed pinnage when I claimed it relates to support for “the war” but will do pinnage when speaking to veterans and (coincidentally) trying to rehabilitate my image after speaking candidly (and, I thought, privately) to my fellow élitists in San Francisco.”

Senator al-’Bama what will be your first act as President?
The first thing that I’ll do as President is take down the flag at the Whitehouse because it signifies support for the last guy’s war. The second will be to nominate the Rev. Wright as Sec of State. The third will be to get rid of all those non-essential little towns that are taking up space in the Heart of Amerikkka park land. Maybe all those folks could move to Italy.
