Dumb as Bush, Senile as McCain

Only younger and smarter. Howabout that. Even boy wonders say stupid stuff sometimes:

“It is wonderful to be back in Oregon. Over the last 15 months, we’ve traveled to every corner of the United States. I’ve now been in 57 states? I think one left to go. Alaska and Hawaii, I was not allowed to go to even though I really wanted to visit, but my staff would not justify it.”

And before anyone else says anything stupid, that’s “boy wonder” in the inclusive, colorblind sense that entitles everyone to the same mockery.

Anyway, Obama’s about a year or so younger than me (which is pretty scary and makes me even less inclined to vote for him). He can’t remember how many states there are? So what. As I typed that parenthetical phrase, I had to stop and make sure I had the math right, because I thought I was 48. I’m not. I’m 47. I think.

Ha … “early on-set loss of bearings.” I resemble that remark.

More ha … Obama campaign’s new flag pins.

Anyway, I guess McCain’s off the hook on being a senile old guy now. Thanks, Ob.

But even though everyone’s back on a level playing field marbles-wise, I still think being strung up for five years by commies, acquitting yourself honorably, and going on to a noted career of high office, widely respected on both sides of the aisle and not a moron when it comes to foreign policy, trumps being charming, smart and well-spoken most of the time.

Side issue, but I think he’s sharing a little much. It’s a bush league mistake.

“I think one left to go. Alaska and Hawaii, I was not allowed to go to even though I really wanted to visit, but my staff would not justify it.”

When you get to be president, Obie, don’t let on that other people are telling you what to do.

[...] hoping the interest in Sen. Obama’s “57 states” mistake is due to dry humor and typical weekend non-seriousness, because it’s not that big a deal. Save and Share: [...]

“57 states”. Is he using Terrezzaah as a campaign adviser?

  3. Fatty Bolger Says:

It obviously wasn’t a joke, just a mistake made by what looked to me to be a very tired man. I’m with Jules on his half-jesting comment about the staff not letting him go to Alaska and Hawaii. It made him look weak.

Regardless of whether it was a joke or a mistake, it will be brought up in the election campaign every time McCain is labeled too old and senile. And I hope they’ll mention the “my staff won’t let me” too. It reinforces the notion that when Obama’s handlers aren’t pushing him around, Michelle is.
