Gasp Protest

Sheboygan man kicks a stand against gas prices. He’s parked the pickup and is biking it. via The Consumerist. It’s summer time. Or spring, whatever. Work’s only 9 miles away. Only one problem:
”I’m not in the greatest shape. The mornings are the worst. It feels like it takes forever. I get like a mile down the road and I want to die.”
Art here shows a pretty skinny guy. Lifestyle issues?

Lifestyle issues. I weigh more than he does (easy to tell, he doesn’t have a tire around his waistline), and I peddle several miles to work most every day, no problem. I have a bigger problem stumbling to the coffee pot once I get to work.

I agree with JeffS. I’m not the slimmest guy on the planet, but I can bike about 15 miles without killing myself. It takes a while for the muscles used to develop and to increase one’s aerobic capacity. That’s the hardest part. After that, distance really doesn’t matter all that much.

Give him two months. He’ll feel better and might not go back to pickups. Until the rain.
