Persistence
LTC Gregory Grimes of U.S. Special Operations Command argues the case for persistence as a 10th Principle of War at Small Wars Journal. It’s a highly technical argument, based on the emergence of persistent military technology, the UAV. I’d suggest, at a time when we are in danger of disengaging from the enemy for no particularly good reason and abandonment is touted as a morally superior course of action, persistence needs to be argued more broadly as the 1st Political Principle of War.
Here are the current Nine Principles of War, by the way.

Field Marshal Bernard L. Montgomery had no patience with lists of “Principles of War”, which are so beloved by staff colleges. He would admit of only two such principles. They were: 1. Never march on Moscow, and 2. Never get involved in a land war in Asia. After the First Gulf War I suggested a third: Never underestimate the logistical miracles the US can perform.
