Lefty Handwringing and Indignation
Over Hillary’s kamikaze run makes a fun read:
Josh Marshall at TPM, Toxic:
She is embarking on a gambit that is uncertain in its result and simply breathtaking in its cynicism.
I know many TPM Readers believe there is a deep moral and political issue at stake in the need to seat these delegations. I don’t see it the same way. But I’m not here to say they’re wrong and I’m right. It’s a subjective question and I respect that many people think this.
Kos:
It really is disgusting, and yet another nail in the coffin of what used to be Bill and Hillary’s positive legacy to the party. She is now being openly mocked across the media and political spectrum. But I’m sure mentioning that is “sexist”, and that everyone criticizing the joke her campaign has become is sexist as well.
I don’t see why not, if everyone else has to be a racist.
Hell hath no fury like a lefty who has scorned. This is a good one to file away, because it might yet bite him in his boggy place. A year ago TBogg was ready to vote Hill, but now he’s ready to vote Republican:
Hillary Clinton will never be President of the United States.
I can say that because, going back a year or so ago, my wife and I fully expected that Hillary Clinton would get the nomination and that we would be voting for her in November. But somewhere along the way, things didn’t go as planned and Barack Obama became the better bet. I think a lot of people noticed that change in the weather including the Clinton group. And it was at that time that her people decided that, if they couldn’t raise a village of Clinton voters, they were going to destroy the village.
Quite frankly I have never seen such a gross example of intellectual dishonesty, disregard for reality on the ground, and shamelessness since, well, actually the last time Bill Kristol was on TV, but never mind that.
We won’t vote for her. The reality on the ground for us is that we do pretty well for ourselves under a Republican administration and I would be willing to take my chances with a solidly Democratic congress, but without her. Sorry folks, but there are a lot of people like us. I know that we’re all supposed to join hands and pull together for a greater more progressive tomorrow and yadda yadda yadda…. but when it comes to Hillary Clinton, fuck that noise. My contempt for her has reached the Lieberman line.
OK, maybe she won’t be nominated. It’d be pretty good though if Obama and his wife blurted out a couple more stupid things about Iran or something, Hill grabs the Dem nomination, and McCain takes Lieberman as his veep? Wait, here’s one: what if Obama found himself compelled to reverse himself on turning down Hill for veep? Heads up, Boggfellow, it ain’t over till the last eyeball is gouged.
On the other side of the ledger, Tigerhawk reports on Hill’s Terms of Surrender.
Welcome, RCP, etal. Always so good to see you. Here’s someone else who’s saying never. Related, it isn’t the ruthless cynicism, it’s the utter gutlessness! Speaking of which, did you hear about the Great Victory? Time to step back for a big picture view of American gripes. Relax, it takes a Hummer village. Mind the toxic splatter.

Look in the mirror, Tbogg. That “gross example” is more recent than you realize.

They’re all so charmingly tiffy at each other right now. Remember the teary-eyed girls at high school graduation who swore they’d be Best Friends Forever and 3 years later could barely remember each other’s names? The same superlative-laden claims vs. attention span deficit applies here:
Obama will be the nominee. Hillary supporters will be incensed, pledging to vote McCain or sit it out. (Voting 3rd party will not occur to most of them.) After a few months of diligent amplification of McCain’s perceived faults and burying of Obama’s larger, real ones (Hagee vs. Wright, anyone?), the huge majority of would-be rebels will return to the plantation.
Here’s the popcorn.
