Pointy-headed analysts weigh in on heirhead’s energy plan, say Paris Hilton makes sense. Boston Herald:

The scary part: Paris Hilton’s proposed “energy policy” for the nation makes a lot of sense.

The cyber world was abuzz yesterday over the mock-campaign commercial with heiress, reality-show star and one-time jailbird Hilton giving it back to GOP presidential candidate John McCain for using Hilton and fellow blond starlet Britney Spears in a recent campaign ad attacking Democratic rival Barack Obama’s celebrity status.

“Hey, America, I’m Paris Hilton and I am a celebrity, too,” said the leggy Hilton while wearing a swimsuit as she lounged next to a pool.

Referring to McCain as a “wrinkly white-haired guy,” Hilton accepted the notion that she was now in the presidential race.

“I want America to know that I’m like totally ready to lead,” said Hilton, whose video was produced and promoted by FunnyorDie.com, a comic Web site.

But what amazed energy experts was her “energy policy” for the country.

Noting that Obama has supported new technologies to cut America’s dependence on foreign oil and that McCain has supported offshore drilling for oil, Hilton suggested, “Well, why don’t we do a hybrid of both candidates’ ideas?”

She said limited offshore drilling should be allowed, with environmental safeguards, while Detroit develops new hybrid and electric cars.

“That way the offshore drilling carries us until the new technologies kick in,” said Hilton, as the patriotic “America the Beautiful” played softly in the background.

She quickly added: “Energy crisis solved. I’ll see you at the debates.”

“I never thought I’d say this, but Paris Hilton’s plan is sound,” said Peter Beutel, an energy analyst at Connecticut’s Cameron Hanover.

“I’ve maintained all along that we need the best (ideas) of the political left, the best of the right and the best of the center. We need bipartisan ideas welded together. If Paris Hilton gets into the act with her plan, I’m all for it,” Beutel said.

“So now we’ll just have to see what Britney has to say and maybe combine them both into a policy,” said Art Kinsman, a spokesman for AAA Southern New England.

McCain’s staff quickly issued a statement in reaction to the huge popularity of Hilton’s online campaign-ad spoof.

“It sounds like Paris Hilton supports John McCain’s ‘all of the above’ approach to American’s energy crisis,” the statement said.

But Chip Hodges, a managing director at Boston’s Massachusetts Financial Services, said one of the problems is that politicians in the past haven’t been honest with Americans about what needs to be done.

“I would not refute what (Hilton) is saying,” said Hodges, of the need for many different approaches to addressing energy policy.

Well, at least she is more credible than Obama.

Well, she’s as physically appealing to me as John McCain, so I can say without a blush that she’d get my vote!
