Timeshare Guy
Need to know about timeshares? Ask the Timeshare Guy. Yeah, he’s a Guy who knows about timeshares. My cousin Guy Crittenden, as it happens, whose book on the subject, “Timeshare Secrets,” is now available. I dunno, I solved that problem by pretty much never going on vacation, but a lot of people have more fun than I do, and if you want to be one of them, Guy might be the guy for you. Here’s Guy’s “about” with a picture of him living the life.

As a timeshare owner (Mariner’s Point, Tennessee, and the Polo Towers, Las Vegas), I can’t say we’ve ever been stuck in a less than optimal apartment, or had a bad vacation. And we have been nearly everywhere in the US, because if you get the right deal, you can trade weeks to anywhere, even ship cruises.
There’s a lot to be cautious about timeshares, though, especially these days. Mr. H and I face our greatest challenge in deciding what to do with our time
shares, because the offspring are RVers and not really enthusiastic about inheriting maintenance fees. Time shares are extremely hard to sell or rent. Therefore, we may face the possibility, in our later years, of turning them over to the management companies without compensation (although they have paid for themselves many times over).
That said, we have never stayed in a time share unit that wasn’t a vast improvement over hotels (and actually cheaper in the long run).
