Dairygate

Good thing Obama never got this kind of treatment. Hill might be the nominee. New Palin scandal emerges. Something rotten in the dairy? Bigger question, anyone have a good tally on how many scandals have emerged in the last three weeks, total column inches devoted to them, compared to the last four years of Obamadoration? No, let’s be fair to Obie and tighten that up, just take Obama’s last six months, hot primary season. It would be fascinating to see how his daily average of negative inches over that period compares to Palin’s. No wait, I have one. Inches devoted to Palin’s pregnant daughter, compared to inches devoted to, I dunno, Obama’s association with known terrorists. Not to mention his advocacy of association with known terrorism backers.

Moderate Voice examines the latest Palin hit so you don’t have to, determines that the lawyers will have to tell us whether anyone did anything wrong. Usually a good indicator that no one did. TPM also desperately looks for something wrong here.

Meanwhile, in panic-related developments, frantic Huffpo nailbiter Ostroy: It’s time to dump Biden for Hillary.

I don’t care how it’s done. Campaign chief David Axelrod can figure that out. And the sooner the better. Because I’m starting to think that if Team-Obama doesn’t do something dramatic fast, it’s gonna lose this election. There’s a worrisome shift in momentum and in the polls. The Palin phenomenon, while truly unfathomable to Democrats, has energized McCain’s campaign and allowed him like Houdini to snatch Obama’s “change” theme right out from under him. It’s time to snatch it back.

I don’t doubt Team Obama is gaming scenarios, desperately wishing that wishes were horses. I’m guessing they involve Biden suddenly developing a pressing need to devote himself to his family, or maybe a health issue. A good sympathy-inducing health issue. Maybe a dire hairplug failure.

Or maybe they just kick him to the curb and say Delaware needs him. And then the cheerleaders can hail Obama’s great leadership, bold decisiveness. Back to the nailbiter:

Conventional wisdom says replacing Biden with Clinton can’t be done. That it’s too late. That it’ll make Obama appear indecisive, impulsive and lacking good judgement. Many Democrats believe this would cause irreparable harm to the campaign, ringing Obama’s death knell. But this couldn’t be further from the truth. In fact, it’d be a freakin’ coup for Obama, and would instantly melt Palin’s undeserving outsize political ice cap.

Obama should do what the Republicans would do in this situation. In fact, he should do exactly what his opponent did. Shake things up. Be unconventional. Roll the dice. Out-McCain McCain. Who cares how it looks. Who cares what the media thinks.

Don’t worry, nailbiter. Large parts of the media will think it’s the miracle of the loaves and fishes. Lazarus back from the dead. Leper cured.
