Voting “D” in Massachusetts
It’s been a long time since I did that, but today’s primary was special. Voting Democratic when John Kerry has a primary challenger for the first tim ein 24 years was the responsible thing to do. And it was fun ...
… while it lasted. Win some, lose some. Unless you’re a 24-year incumbent JFK wannabe in Massachusetts, in which case you just win some. Republican Jeff Beatty, security consultant, former Delta Force and CIA officer, is now at bat. Good luck in Blue Mass.

For those of us fortunate enough to live in 4th Middlesex, we also got to help decide who will replace (*cough* alleged) Molester Marzilli in the state Senate. I picked the guy who at least mentioned fiscal responsibility in his junk mail.
I was surprised, however, to see that Marzilli’s name was still on the ballot. Are incumbents automatically placed on the ballot, even when they say they’re not running for another term?

Way to take one for the team, Critt. Hell if I lived up thataway, I’d vote against Lurch, too. This alone, would have done it for me.

I voted specifically so I could vote for the guy that ran against Kerry. Unfortunately, the incumbency factor was too strong. It would have cheered me up for days if Kerry had lost. I also voted against every incumbent on the ballot, even when I had to write a name in.
