Fallen American
Lt. Mohsin Naqvi, 10th Mountain. Born in Pakistan; immigrated to the United States at 8; naturalized at 16; enlisted at 19 on Sept. 15, 2001; Iraq vet, killed in action in Afghanistan, Sept. 17, 2008. via Newsday.
His former CO, Capt. Carl Purgerson: “He made it a joy to come to work, very dedicated and a true patriot to the core.”
New York Army National Guard Sgt. 1st Class Eric Hunt, next-door neighbor in Newburgh, fighting back tears: ”Whenever he was home we’d get together and talk about Army stuff. We had that in common. He was always cracking jokes. We went to his brother Hassan’s high school graduation party last year, and he was the life of the party.”
Aziz Ahsan, a Hudson Valley lawyer who survived the World Trade Center attack: ”We were really proud of him joining the forces. He’s the most patriotic person I’ve known, and he sacrificed his life for all Americans, not just Muslim Americans.”
via Capital News 9, his younger brother Hassan: “He told me to take care of myself. I’d see him later … When he was little, he would watch Rambo and say he wanted to do that one day. We were with him when he did it, every step of the way … I’ll see him later.”
