Ticket Punched
Palin meets with Karzai, Uribe and Kissinger in New York. Punches a foreign policy ticket ahead of her big debate with Old Hairplugs. Everyone’s favorite Obamist press agency makes it all about inexperience. Fair enough.
She only left the country for the first time last year, etc. AP fails to observe, however, that unlike at least one major party presidential candidate, Palin already possesses sufficient depth of foreign policy insight to know that you don’t sit down with terrorism-sponsoring mullahs without preconditions. Also, that Putin is bad news, looking to get worse. And we’re winning in Iraq.
Staidly snarking AP fails to note her opposition’s foreign experience, not counting a couple of junkets, mainly involves attending a madrassa in Indonesia. Palin may want to consider taking a few cab rides in New York. She will quickly outpace Obama in foreign policy experience, if she hasn’t already.
Not insignificantly, AP also neglects to note that Palin has an organic syrah named after her, with a bold, slightly spicy and fruity bouquet. It’s from Chile, which is foreign, and should count for something. Especially since it’s ticking off the la-di-dah left in SF.
Meanwhile, someone sounds hurt. CBS: Palin camp goes to new lengths to shut out media. For God’s sake, doesn’t the woman understand how the media will turn on her? She’ll get nothing but bad press if she keeps this up! And after all the attention they’ve given her. CNN: Networks get pissy.
Related, not so different: Remember how funny it was when Obama joshed the old geezer about not knowing how to use the Internet, and the media yukfest when McCain thought Spain was in Latin America? Clearly the cranky old codger was having an Spanish-American War flashback. Here’s another good one. Old Hairplugs thinks there was TV in 1929, and FDR was president.

What is most irritating about this inexperience label they put on Palin is how the world’s biggest problems, Iran, North Korea, etc., don’t offer any really attractive solutions even to the most experienced foreign policy experts. What the media needs to focus on is the candidates’ policies toward our allies vs. their policies toward our enemies. We need a foreign policies that strengthen the good players like Columbia and weaken the bad actors like Venezuela. The world is like a giant board game and the civilized nations must take over as much of it as possible so the barbarians have no place to hide when we come to destroy them. But I’m sure Palin understands this even if Obama doesn’t get it.

She’s obviously trying to cover up the truth about her grandson Trig.

Meanwhile, here’s the interesting bit of foreign policy experience the Great Obama did have but for some reason chooses to firmly slap a lid on - his post-Columbia couple of months or so hanging out in Pakistan with a couple of his wealthy Pakistani Columbia mates and his Pakistani ex-roommate.
