Not being financially or particularly economically minded, I admit to total incomprehension about this bailout deal. I don’t know whether to root for it or against it, and I suspect there are a lot of people like me.
What I do know is, every time there’s a crisis like this, the only people who win are the Congressthieves who make deals with hidden loopholes that allow them to get around any compromises and regulations, along with the other ethics-challenged people who benefit from those get-arounds. Where do we go for oversight over Congress? This used to be a system of checks and balances, but something has gone seriously wrong.
