Gang Rape Yuks

A Boston women’s shelter, not amused, drops Sandra Bernhard from its fundraiser lineup over her Sarah Palin “big black brothers” gang rape joke. Boston Herald:
A Boston shelter for homeless women has dropped controversial comedian Sandra Bernhard as the marquee speaker at its annual fund-raising event because of her “gang rape” joke about Sarah Palin.
Sue Marsh, executive director of Rosie’s Place, said today that she learned of Bernhard’s remarks yesterday after getting an e-mail about them.
“We were horrified so we decided that we wouldn’t have her at our event,” Marsh said.
Bernhard said during a comedy routine last month that Palin, John McCain’s GOP running mate, would be “gang-raped” by blacks if she came to Manhattan.
Bernhard was billed as this year’s special guest for the 9th annual Funny Women, Serious Business to benefit Rosie’s Place.
Marsh said the Oct. 16 event at the Hynes Convention Center will still go on as planned but a replacement for Bernhard hasn’t been tapped.
Very edgy. Reportedly the actual line was that Palin would be “gang-raped by my big black brothers.” Awaiting racism outrage. Feminist outrage, too.
Welcome, Punditeers, etal. Come on in. We’re asking ourselves why we hate them, and recruiting mujihideen in the righteous Jihad against al-P. On his 250th, you gotta ask yourself: What would Nelson do? Meanwhile, everyone loves a good car crash.

Good luck with that.
I’ve never thought Sandra Bernhardt was funny, or likeable, or even minimally attractive. She has a mean mouth, and mean eyes, and a voice like a straight razor, with a stage presence to match.
I don’t call her brand of “humor” edgy. I call it mean-spirited and anti-social.

Never heard of her before this kerfluffle. Now that I have I hope that I shall never hear of her again.

The only Sarah Bernhardt I thought was funny was the unidexter French actress.

“mean-spirited and anti-social”
That’s what makes her popular among East Coast liberals.

One hundred years ago, entertainers couldn’t get rooms in respectable hotels. Now they advise Congressional sub-committees.
Perhaps one day these people will go back to being the overpaid court jesters they are and leave the real world to the rest of us. The way things are going, I expect one of them will be appointed ‘Secretary of Culture’.

“Awaiting racism outrage. Feminist outrage, too.”
I admire your patience, Jules, but for goodness sake, don’t hold your breath.
