Left Exultant!

Mealy mouth Alaskan hack report thrills the Obamists. I don’t get it. Bounding pol palling around with an unrepentant ex-terrorist and inflammatory bigot pastor, good. Palin trying to get a public menace out of uniform, bad. What do these people have against law and order?  Roundup starts, where else, in Left Field

Since I always love pointing out just how friggen smart I am, in light of Palin and Troopergate soon to explode on a Sunday paper near you I’d like to quote something I said here concerning what is now named Troopergate.  From August 29, 2008, the day Palin was named to the ticket:

I’ve been blogging for a while, and I can smell big stories from a mile away. The pundits on cable news may be singing praises for McCain’s choice right now, but trust me, the old man f—–d up big time. Gov. Palin will be McCain’s Harriet Myers.

For the first month of the McCain/Palin ticket, it looked like I might have to eat those words.

No worries, Lefty, never too late to start munching.

TBogg: Great excuse to quote some vile, pornographic lyrics! While being moralistic!

Balloon Juice: Partisan! Partisan! I ask you! 12-0 to release! Repubs, Dems!

(I refer Mr. Cole to the Obamist Press:

Lawmakers indicated they planned to release the report even though there was disagreement about its findings.

“I think there are some problems in this report,” Republican state Sen. Gary Stevens. “I would encourage people to be very cautious, to look at this with a jaundiced eye.”

Is it possible they figured this milktoast was better out than under wraps, where people could speculate wildly. Dems are generally best hung by providing them with as much rope as they want, after all. Also for Cole, a helpful backgrounder, Townhall: One Guy’s Opinion That Contradicts Itself And Ignores Relevant Facts And Law.)

Taylor Marsh: “The firing of Mike Wooten, her former brother-in-law, was an abuse of power …” 10 Repubs, 4 Dems say so! … OK, her math and facts are a little off. But that’s not the point. You’d think there’d be some solidarity between former beauty queens/media chicks who turned political and have histories of virulently opposing Obama.

“From political Republican star, Sarah Palin is now a liability.”

Such little faith. You know, maybe America will look at that and say, “That guy really was a dangerous nutjob. How come he still had a job? And what’s with the neverending pile-on?”

Skippy the Bush Kangaroo leaves some hopping space, noting the potential for this to be meaningless, politically:

… after all, the gop considers abuse of power a pre-requisite for holding office.

but it won’t help amongst the independents.

Ha ha ha! “Pre-requisite,” good one! … Seriously, though, isn’t that marsupial locked up in Gitmo yet? Damned Bushitler brownshirts are slacking. Re the second point, sure. Could be. Though given the conventional wisdom about how the economy works for Obama, etc., anyone who’s undecided at this point must figure they’ve got the wrong Messiah.

OK, good fun. Most absurd for last. TPM, of course: Red Herring! Tip of the iceberg! Never mind what the hack report says … canning the insubordinate public safety chief was only part of a vast right-wing conspiracy to get the trooper, not vice versa. Don’t these people know how to run a Star Chamber?

One Response to “Left Exultant!”

  1. Fatty Bolger Says:

My take on the situation is this: The more people talk about how Sarah Palin got a bad cop fired, the more it will help her with the people who matter. I know a lot of leaner types who aren’t big on following politics, but they are big on protecting members of their family against abusive assholes - and they aren’t going to care if it was technically an abuse of power or not.
